We had our hotel make the booking as we could not see how to do it directly. The name was obviously new to the hotel receptionist, and that is a good sign in Bruges. It is a tiny place on a charming equally tiny lane. The staff are lovely and the menu as traditional as it comes. Good old fashioned dishes and without (as you will find in other places in Bruges) ‘inventions’ to make them more contemporary. The food is wholesome and excellent. Is it cheap? Nothing in Bruges is cheap but here the limited (good) wine choices are low making the final bill very reasonable. On the evening we were there the other diners in the small dining room were locals, we the only tourists. The owner apologized to us if the large table near us had been too noisy. In fact it was pleasant to be in a room in Bruges that had real atmosphere. Malesherbes was the best place we ate in Bruges by the proverbial country mile. Come here. Eat heartily. Drink lots. Enjoy.

Came across this great little restaurant and had the best meal of our stay in Bruges.
We ate confit of duck leg with mashed potatoes drizzled with goose fat and seasonal vegetables, this was finished with a chocolate mouse. Also enjoyed a glass of wine and the entire meal for two was under 50 euro.
A true find!

Tucked away down a narrow side street,we wouldn't have bothered but for the reviews and we weren't disappointed. We called in the previous night to book and were instantly impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere created by the host. This continued when we arrived the following evening for our meal. We were greeted warmly and made to feel at home. This bijou restaurant is small. It offers a limited menu with daily specials. What we ordered was beautifully cooked, served in a friendly and engaging manner. If you are after haute cuisine, don't bother. If you want tasty food, decent value and served in a warm and friendly environment, then I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This place is a real find! We received such a warm welcome when we arrived that we instantly felt at home. With only a few tables, it’s definitely best to book ahead and everything we ordered was freshly prepared and delicious. We will return if ever in Bruges again!

This is a quaint little French restaurant tugged in a narrow alley off the main street, minutes away from Groeningemuseum and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk (Church of Our Dear Lady).
We stepped in 12:30. The restaurant had only 5 or 6 tables. The hostess needed to move a few guests to open up a table for us. The secret, muster all your courage and say the few French phrases that you can. And DO NOT forget to thank you fellow guests. Respect the restaurant's guest, and the restaurant will respect you.
The food was delicious. Slow, but delicious. Order a glass of wine that goes with the dish. Do not rush. Plan on missing your 2:00 appointment, as we did.

This was by far the best meal we had in Bruges. It is a tiny but beautifully quaint restaurant holding about 16 people and they have one sitting. Make a reservation. I had the foie gras appetizer and the smoked duck salad. Hubby had the duck leg and sausage cassoulet and it was over the top. Both meals were excellent. They also had a nice reasonable wine selection.

We wandered past the restaurant whilst exploring the city and decided to make a reservation for dinner the same evening. The whole experience was amazing- from the friendly and helpful staff to the tasty food and cosy atmosphere. Genuinely the highlight of our trip! Would definitely recommend others to visit Malesherbes!

Wonderful welcome from the host. Nice inviting restaurant and a varied menu with something for everyone. I had the venison for main and a gorgeous tart tatin for dessert. This is a small restaurant for 12-14 people max, and a small kitchen so allow time for a meal. It really is a truly hidden gem, but in plain sight, in Bruges.

I stepped out of the winter cold and into the warm embrace of this lovely little gem. My meal - roast duck leg with potatoes and vegetables - was simple and unpretentious, yet completely delicious. Staff were also warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend a visit when next in Bruges. ❤️
ps not my pic, but gives a flavour of the place.

Four of us had very enjoyable dinner here. The menu is limited but you are getting fresh home cooking. Staff were very helpful/friendly. Prices OK. Atmosphere is a bit like a quaint English cafe - not to everyone's taste but if that's what you are looking for then this is the place to go.

We found this charming place by chance and we considered it the best place we’ve dine in Brugge this summer. Not only it was delicious but pretty quickly served. Homey style and homely
atmospheric ambiance. We had fish and lamb to die for, coffee and sweet memories forever.

What a lovely French bistro in a home converted into a restaurant - only about six tables with sweet memorability around us. I believe the chef/owners are sisters. The meals were absolutely delicious and memorable! The sisters were so friendly to us without being imposing. I wish I could dine there again, but Bruges is far from Seattle.

We discussed as a family that it was good to see a small but very balanced menu. An excellent place to eat. We ordered fish and lamb. Well presented and with a correct and tasty flavor. Thank you very much for showing us that Belgian-French spoon that is always a gift to the palate.

The owners are very kind, attentive and friendly. The food is homemade and delicious. They recommended the house wine to us, which was a success. French food in the center of Bruges in a super cozy atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle. A very pleasant experience!

Very authentic restaurant in the heart of Bruges. Nothing to do with the many touristic restaurant around. Genuine, well cooked food accompanied by good beer, very friendly personnel and intimate atmosphere. I felt home. Thanks.
