I visited Indian Curry House on Valentine's Day 2024. I was a little wary as apart from the many rave reviews, there were some who seemed less positive about the food and staff. After my visit I don't understand why. The restaurant was full (as expected on such a special day) but the staff were very friendly. It took a while to get our menu but the waitress kept apologizing and making extra effort from then on. The other waiter who took our order took the time to explain how spicy we could ask for the dish. It took a while for the food to arrive, but it was delicious. The butter chicken was very tasty and had just the right spiciness for me (a nice tingling in the throat), while you could still taste all the ingredients. Lots of chicken too. My wife had a chickpea curry which had a great roasted flavour, in addition to a completely different spiciness and lovely texture. The portions were the perfect size for us. Combined with the rice and freshly baked naan bread, this was a delicious meal. We didn't feel any pressure from a time slot after ours, but since we went in at 8:30 PM there may not have been many reservations left afterwards. The restaurant is located in an old mansion, nicely decorated in Indian style, while retaining some classic elements. Although the tables are close together, it was still pleasant to sit. Extra points because the decor is not cliché or tacky, but rather inviting. A perfect place for a no-nonsense lunch or dinner. Just great flavors and attentive service even on a very busy day. I will definitely come back here.

Best Indian restaurant in Gent

I went there with my family and they got the best Indian food I ever got, especially the butter chicken! The staf and owners are very nice and friendly. When you go inside you feel like a part of the Indian culture with the paintings on the wall and others things. I would go again!

Awesome food. One of the best indian food I've eaten. Service was kind and we didn't have to wait at all. Reservation in advance is highly recommended, we were lucky to get our seat without one.

This has got to be the rudest owner and staff since I've been in Gent 2weeks! First the owner gave me terrible looks as if she was racist!! Then I ordered curry shrimp. From a person that knows curry and almost every cuisine this was nasty! Not only is the quality of shrimp cheap it doesn't even compare to the smaller Indian restaurants around Ghent. I guess the ratings are from people that don't travel much and don't know good food! Never again- Keep your rude behavior and nasty curry!

Won’t repit ever!

We went inside without a reservation but they had more than a few free places. We ask if we could eat there and they say yes and prepare our table. We order, around 15 minutes we had our dinner but then, 5 minutes later they tell us we just have 20 minutes to eat and leave because we were without a reservation, that seems horrible for me, they should have tell us before we order and obviously before we started eating, that’s so rude from my point of view. Whatever, the amount of food for the price is also ridiculous… I don’t really recommend that place

Extremely packed restaurant and very noisy, it’s like everyone is screaming inside because everyone else in there does the same thing. People sit really close to other people. I don’t like my elbows brushing to random strangers while eating. There appears to be an Indian curry take away next door and an Indian curry shop as well. That expansion did not go hand in hand with added quality. Very high prices for a small portion. Waitresses give zero advice about the food options, asking for dahl as a side dish seemed impossible yet there appeared a menu like dish that had different dishes with palak paneer on the side. The tikka massala was ok, very sweet. The chicken vindaloo was not spicy but tasted good. The restaurant’s philosophy ought to be reconsidered in order for it to be nice again.

Best indian food!

I ate multiple times at Indian curry house, every time a different dish and every time I was amazed how good everything is! I ate vegetarian dishes, chicken dishes and with lamb. My friends also like it very much. Very happy also with the service there, everyone is so happy and friendly. It feels like home. Very good!!

Enjoy a delicious Indian meal together with our students. Very wide choice of veggie/non-veggie dishes served by super friendly employees. The degree of spiciness is really well respected. A pot of spicy was also served separately for those who wanted "a little more".

Great, neat place with a nice menu and tasty dishes. Nice to have lunch a few hundred meters outside the center of Ghent. Prices are very ok. And there is an easily accessible parking lot at the St-Michielshelling.

Food was really good! The place was busy but cosy. And the staff were very friendly. We ordered the chicken korma and the tandoori - food was more than enough and delicious. We will go back for sure

I ordered once from Indian Curry House and unfortunately I wasn't amazed. Although the portions were large, the flavours were so and so and the naan breads were too dry (couldn't find any cheese in the cheese naan either).
