Best memory of a weekend visit to Ghent. We did a bit of research on this, looking for music (jazz, swing, anything) that would give us the possibility to (partner) dance. We wanted some quality music from a live band. We wanted to eat and...reserve a table handy for those first two requirements above. We wanted reasonably easy access by public transport so we could have a drink and not worry about the car. We hoped for a friendly atmosphere and good service. WE FOUND ALL OF THESE THINGS !!! A great lively atmosphere, quite youthful BUT STRANGE........We looked around carefully and found that all these customers were doing was chatting, joking, laughing and even dancing together. SO WHAT WAS STRANGE??? No one, I swear, not one person, was fiddling with their phone !!!!! It was like travelling back in time. If you want a really social evening, with some simple but very tasty food (yes, stuff for veggies and vegans too!!!) this is a must visit pub/bar/restaurant. I recommend you book a table to eat. We booked, missed the tram and rang. They held our table. Brilliant. Check out their web/fb for band details.More

I popped in for lunch on a short visit to Ghent - and was immediately placed as a UK visitor and offered a menu in English. I opted for a vegetarian croque monsieur and a ginger ale. The food was quickly served and nicely presented....The ale came with lemon and mint (I had asked for no ice.) Felt like a nice atmosphere with people in of different ages. Would call again if ever in Ghent.More

Good and cheap food with a lot of people in their twenties. Nice place to pop in for lunch with a lot of people who rather talk than watch screens. Cool staff.

I've been coming here with friends after sport for a beer, in the summer on the terrace with a cocktail or with my gf to eat. You can't go wrong in this place.

The food was incredible, big portions and great value. Staff were really friendly and let us eat at the bar because it was really busy. Loads of vegetarian options and I managed to have an AMAZING meal as a vegan - 5 bean chilli burrito...with rice, salad and nachos for 14 euro and it was a massive portion. Really nice atmosphere, we had a great time and would recommend!More

I stopped in for dinner after a long day. I enjoyed the vegetarian chili and a local beer. The service was good and everything was delicious. My only complaint is that the menu is somewhat limited.

We celebrated my friend's bachelorette on a Saturday and had dinner at de Walrus (with a party of 7.) It was really nice that we could each choose our own preferred dish. The menu is quite restricted but there is enough choice for both veggies...and non-veggies. The service was friendly. I had the 'croque op u végé muile' and particularly enjoyed the good quality of the vegetables on my plate and the fact that I got more than 1 slice of tomato and 1 leaf of lettuce. :-) Would absolutely go back!More

Went with adults and kids and we all found something on the menu we liked, ranging from a simple omelette or crocque monsieur to the curry dish of the day. The food is simple and nice. Good value for money. Friendly waiters.

It's a vibrant place, often very busy. The food is basic, the quality is good for a quick meal for a good price! Don't expect fancy dining. You go there for the atmosphere, good beers, easy meal and good service.
