Avoid this place: it is way too expensive, bad waffles, even the Fristi for the kids was overdue. Luckily Gent has many vetter places than this venue.

The waffles were delicious and lovely restaurant. However one of the waiters was rude and considering the price you would at least expect them to be polite. This was a treat so won't be going back. Wish we'd saved some money and gone for waffles and one of the other lovely cafes.

"Can I have a cappuccino without cream?". "No." "May I have my teabag on the side?". "No." Wait staff here take the biscuit for rudeness. It was so rude it was funny in a Basil Fawlty kind of way. Also, Flemish waffles are not very nice if you are used to the more substantial style of Southern Belgium. €8 for... More

Tasty waffles, classy ambiance, ridiculously expensive, and although we've rarely encountered rude service, this was one of those very few times. We go out of our way to be polite to everyone when we travel; 36 euros for the 2 of us, and I got the feeling the older waiter couldn't wait for us to leave. Anyhow, that was our... More

Great light and crisp waffle! They say they are the founders of them. But true or not its a very Begium boutique kind of place. Not cheap but thats like any establishment in the city. Give it a try for a good waffle. Bit strange is that you have to pay for the toilet evwn when you were a costumer... More

Waffles were very very good, the best I have ever tried but experience was spoiled becouse service was strange, somewhat rude and notwithstanding extremely high prices they even charge patrons 50cents to use their toiltes! Coffee style is antiquated, they proudly say that they serve it as 200 years ago but putting a whipped cream on cuppicino is passee. Pretenscious... More

Quite tasty. Very traditional. Inside is beautiful. Outside has a great view. If you want waffles in Belgium, this is a great place to do it.

175 years: that's how long this waffle house in the historic centre of Ghent exists. After five generations, they've mastered the craft of making the best waffles there are: crispy and light. We had a waffle with strawberry's and a waffle Max (with fruit and Grand Marnier), coffee, tea and water and we paid 40 euro's. But that was the... More

Absolutely expensive - & the quality is not as years ago. Great names as MAX should keep high standards. The famous waffle with standard strawberries was ready in two minutes and 30 seconds - thought was just round the corner 😏+ glass of water+ 1 ice cream for my little one, 28 Euro. There are better places in this great... More

Max is the original waffle and the decor is from the circus days where food trucks followed the carnivals. It is lovely to see the history, eat a fluffy waffle and sit outside if you can
