The best Bistro in Gent!!

This perfect little Bistro offers a wonderful menu that you need to experience rather than read about. Everything is super fresh, wonderfully seasoned and the calamari is the best I've had outside of Southern Spain. They have a very unique oven as well which gives food a lovely smokey flavour. Prices are so fair for what you get as well as service being very friendly and helpful, and they are open all day until the evening. This is my new best place to eat in the city. Make it yours!!

The Gent restaurant where you can have it all

We go very frequently to Bistro Illyrian because we feel great, eat the most delicious food, drinnk the most impressive wines and receive the best service. Gent might have great restaurants but overall the service is horrendous. Bistry Illyrian excells in its service. Egzon is a great waiter and the cooks are just amazing. Highly recommended.

Delicious food and wine in a cozy yet hip setting

Never had tasted Albanian food before. Everything we tried was delicious. We ordered the hunter’s platter and some extra a la carte plates which were all delicious. I love the sharing concept and was happy to taste a bit of everything. The wines we had were all really good as well, the ones I tasted were Kosovar wines which was also a first for me. Staff was friendly too. Thanks for the nice experience!

Scam. Be aware if you are a foreigner. We sat there and they told us they could not offer the meals included in the "a la carte" section. That meant we needed to order larger meals, more expensive. According to them, this was because it was Gent festiva, and it was going to be like that for 10 days. When we were finishing dinner, we saw they were offering the meals included in the "a la carte" section to the people recently arrived. Waiters saw we were upset and one came to explain they had changed their mind and apologize. He came when I was not on the table, as he knew I was the one with the highest English level. That was coward. I believe they saw we were from abroad and they decided to fool us and charge more money

Wonderful Albanian surprise

Illyan is a chic bistro with a beautiful interior, comfy seating, lovely lights, and delicious food, and an interesting Albanian wine list. The dishes are simple, rustic but with lots of flavour, and very delicious, indeed. Service is attentive and competent.

We were in three, we paid a menu of 36 euros each and we had to fight among each other for the portions. We had two halves of aubergines, two sweet potatoes for THREE people
