Nice little restaurant in the city center. With the lady serving and the gentleman in the kitchen you can expect the same good level of service and food quality every day. We enjoyed the tasteful dishes, including the fresh salads and authentic Belgian fries. Could...really recommend if you look for a local kitchen with an authentic atmosphere.More

If you are looking for a family restaurant and you are in Gent, it is a nice place to be! The owner is a super gentle woman and runs this business within the family. The quality of the food is typical of Belgium cuisine and...the price are the standard in BE.More

We wanted to find a good quality local restaurant and Aroma is just that. Very cosy and wellcoming. We had mushrooms on toast starter followed by a fantastic beef in beer stew. All in all 5 star service , food and atmosphere.

When you enter the restaurant, you can feel the friendly atmosphere. As the restaurant is a family driven restaurant, you almost feel you are invited to their own home. Our experience was, that they were extremely service minded with a good sense of humor. The...restaurant has a very authentic, welcoming and cozy interior. The food was well prepared and tasty, and the menu offers a lot of typical Belgian dishes. Aroma is situated in one of the small streets close to the center of Ghent. Our experience with Aroma was very positive and we would be happy to revisit!More

Very friendly cosy restaurant and superb food and service. Had lovely complementary nibbles followed by Flemish stew which was out of this world! Liqueur coffees with once again complementary sweets. This place is an absolute gem and a definite for a meal out.

It is a nice and cozy restaurant! The food and wine are good! We had a great night! The restaurant is located in a small street behind the main square with all the (tourist) restaurants.

This family-run restaurant is small and cozy with about 12 tables. I was glad to get a same-day reservation because it was quite crowded in town. It was nice to be away from the constant din of larger restaurants. They have a la carte items...and three fixed price menus. I got menu two which included lobster bisque, a steak with sauce, fries and salad, and dessert of chocolate mousse. My husband had menu three which included cheese croquettes (very yummy), steak with fries and salad, a glass of wine and a coffee. The hard baguette was home made, light and crunchy. They also had an amuse bouche of deer liver pâté. I would say the lobster bisque is quite different from what we are used to in the US. Not being critical, but I prefer the US version. The steak filets were cooked perfectly but as I was quickly reminded, steak in Europe is much tougher than that in the US. The Ber aisle sauce was a nice touch. The chocolate mousse was wonderful and rich enough that it was perfect when split with my husband. I would certainly recommend them but if I came back, I think I would get something other than the steak.More

Hey, this looks like a nice restaurant, my date said. Yes it does, I replied. Keep it in mind, so we know where to go when you've seen them all. (I have some experience in shopping with women: very often you end up where you...started.) She smiled and we decided to not look any further and entered Aroma. The restaurant is cosy and inviting, classy but not snobby. Waitress/co-owner Katleen makes you feel at home right away. As if you were invited to her home for dinner. It feels as if you are the only guest. Very professional! Her hubby Andy is the cook, and he is just as talented. Our starters (prawn croquets and lobster consommé) made us wanting more. Much more. Timing was perfect for our main course. And every time Katleen was there to refill our glasses and to see if we were still happy. Of course we were! All perfect then? I'd say so! Nothing to complain? Well, I am Dutch, and we're famous for rude behaviour and complaints. Complaining about the wheather most of the time, but still. I would have liked some cooked vegetables. The salad is very good, very tasty dressing, but you know men. If you are a couple, or with four, this is a very nice restaurant. Good cook, nice ambiance, excellent service. Definitely worth the try.More

We chose this place because it wasn't on the main square and we were hoping that this might mean we enjoyed a better service but unfortunately we were wrong. Apart from the waitress refusing to take our drinks order until we were ready to order...our meals (what is that about?!) There was nothing really wrong with the service but it wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming. The food was ok. Again, nothing wrong with it but it was just.... Ok. All in all its a very average place and I wouldn't bother returning. I'm sure there are far better options in Ghent.More

What a lovely little restaurant. Family run affair with the lady at front of house being charming. One of our party was coeliac and she could not have been more helpful. Predominantly red meat on the menu but food was excellent. House red went down...very well. Lovely cosy decor. Thank you and well done. Would return and would recommendMore

After exploring the city centre we searched TA for restaurants in the area and found this gem. We were lucky to be seated right away (four people) as others were turned away after us. The woman running the floor was great - you can tell...she is old school and cares about the restaurant. The food was fantastic - tender steak cooked to perfection and beef stew that was flavoursome. Don’t hesitate and get to Aroma.More

Very lovely traditional style restaurant. The shrimp salad was fantastic and the coffee better than the specialty coffee roaster a few doors down that was meant to be the best coffee in town. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We didn't book in advance and were lucky to get a table. If you don't want to be disappointed you probably better make a reservation. They have a limited number of tables. Hope this helps.
