A landmark French style bistro/restaurant in Charleroi, it looks a bit tired when entering; plastic covers on the tables and random Sky Radio type music. But don't let the first impressions fool you, the Chef/Proprietor, originally from Montpellier but more than half a century in this restaurant, knows his trade. The house wines are very decent and the grilled Cabaillaud (Cod) prepared with just a bit of oil to allow an unfiltered experience of the flavour of the fish itself, was excellent. Dito for the (large!) entrecote, perfectly prepared the way I like it best, saignant, accompanied by very tasty potatoes and grilled veggies. The passion of the head chef clearly noticeable when we talked about the food. Highly recommended.

The setting is dated but is part of the charm of this restaurant which is not pretentious but which knows the value of its products. The welcome is truly as it should be, without ostentation. The menu is well balanced, also for the wines. The dishes are excellent and reassuringly classic. The bill is in the high range. To recommend.

If there is a place dear to me in Charleroi, it is this table! More used to going there in the evening than at lunch, I once accompanied my friends to this delicious table at lunchtime. We all opted for lunch and an à la carte dessert afterwards (what a sabayon!!!!) Upon arrival the chef who has been working in the hall for 30 years and is with his current boss wife of the establishment comes to kindly shake your hand! Nice way to be welcomed in this establishment favorite for me...a reference. I won't tell you about my choices, I'll let you find out if you don't know. Seasonal menu that gives pride of place to game. Wines of excellent quality and at all costs. We agreed on a rosé (Tavel) for us. Smiling and efficient service without being oppressive. Thanks again. The place is calm and subdued. The staff is warm and professional. The products are fresh and perfectly cooked. The waitress who is also the owner gives very good advice and is really kind. I highly recommend.

Had the most beautiful meal here with superb service. The champagne topped it off. Complementary canapés and digestive. This was an unexpected pleasure for a special birthday meal.

Just 50 years old restaurant and most probably the best one in Charleroi: only first quality well prepared fresh products served with a smile and the wish to make you happy! It is definitively not the most sophisticated cuisine, but surely the best one to enjoy the real taste of the best products. The decor is almost the same that the one 50 years ago, but confortable and with the ambiance you may expect to enjoy your tasty meal. Very friendly staff, almost the same from the beginning 50 years ago...Surely my first choice restaurant in Charleroi.

Took the recommendation of the fish - it was excellent. They don't have a menu in English and the waiter speaks only few words in English but my lame French and his efforts to understand did the trick.
