La Caneva serves very good Italian food. Maybe not gourmet but extremely satisfying to a weary tourist trying to get a decent meal.

We had a wonderful dinner here on a Friday evening. Our server knew exactly how to time our meal. The mussels and ravioli were absolutely delicious. The owner went out of his way to find me a sweeter white wine. The restaurant is on the...outskirts of Old Town, a five minute walk from Grand Place. Eat here!More
Don’t bother going here if you are English. My wife and I went for a meal last week and the owner and staff couldn’t have been more obnoxious. Only the younger guy would speak to us as what looked like the older owner was only...interested in his regular local guests. A very rude man who couldn’t hide his dislike of us being in his restaurant. I don’t understand why he sat us down instead of just saying he was fully booked, and we went in just as they had opened for the evening. The food was bland and tasteless, like the feeling we received upon entry. Meaning we left after one course and one drink. Worst reception we have ever witnessed from any restaurant ever, and we have travelled to 39 countries. I would like to add that every other restaurant we visited during our Belgium break were absolutely lovely, and won’t hesitate to return to Brussels, Bruges or Ghent. Lovely places.More

Service was terribly ....................................................slow. Waited over an hour for some basic starters. Others who came in later were served quicker. We reserved a table for 2 in advance for 8.30pm and arrived on time. Waiters seemed cold and lacking in motivation. Restaurant was empty by...the time we finished our main course and the staff were too busy tidying tables to ask if we wanted desert, coffee or anything else. Paid the bill and left. Poor night and £100 down the drain for two basic courses that were nothing special. You can do much better. Advise you go elsewhere. Unless you like sombre atmosphere, isolation or need to go for training purposes on how not to run a restaurant while maximizing diner stress and dissatisfaction. Giving them a 3 because the main course was OK and, for the benefit of the doubt, in case they were having a Faulty Towers Drunken Chef moment.More

Absolutely suggested! A corner of authentic and quality Italian cuisine (Venetian cuisine) in the center of Brussels :)
Superb dinner both for meat and fish, and the wine selection. The owner is an eclectic intellectual, excellent cook. Having fun.More

Reasonably good dinner and wine at acceptable pricelevels; open fire ( gas) was on and interior was extremely warm when we were seated on last second last place almost in the fireplace; requesting the other table was not possible as it was reserved for a...bigger group of 5, who fid not come; you expect some flexibility from staff to settle around with tablereservations. Luckily the owner was willing to lower the fire...; starter( charcuterie) and cheese were more than enough and of very good quality; main was Gorgonzola linguine which of great quality; good italian; value for moneyMore

I'm Italian. I love my pasta. I want it done right. This is where you go to get it right, in Brussels. We were so happy to have found this gem. We went a little after it opened and got a seat right next to...the fireplace. My carbonara was exceptional. My husband's lasagna, I wanted to gobble up. The complimentary bruschetta was lovely, and the bread too. Now, many here have said the service was slow. Well, you're in Europe. In our two-week stay in Europe, anywhere we ate, was slow. Enjoy the fact that they don't rush you out, as so many do in the states. As for rudeness? We didn't experience that. The waiter was not fluent in English (he doesn't need to be), but he got what we wanted - nevermind he was the only waiter in the entire establishment - not easy. I did get the opportunity to meet and thank the chef and he was very sweet. I'm thinking the bad experiences here are coming from folks who expect American service in a foreign country. Tell yourself it's going to take a while, drink up and enjoy the gorgeous ambiance and thoughtfully prepared dishes. The locals go here. It's good.More

Stumbled upon this restaurant during a recent city break we did not have a reservation. On entering our welcome was warm and we chose to sit on a table by the window. The restaurant is beautiful with exposed brickwork and beams and fabulous artwork on...the walls. Menus were provided quickly and orders taken. Our drinks arrived along with complementary bruschetta which were very tasty. Our pasta dishes arrived after a satisfactory wait and were quite obviously freshly prepared and delicious. The restaurant was very busy with people arriving throughout our meal some having to be turned away. No room for dessert we paid our bill and left happy and very full.More
We've booked the restaurant, they've prepared for us a table inside and since the weather was nice we kindly asked to be sitted outside. After some minutes they came back asked us to be inside beacuse they couldn't make it to manage the tables outise....Ok fine, we accepted since was startied to be a lit chilly. We ordered some mixed plates "charcuterie" and cheese which took about 45 min to get served... Main arrived and the waiter spilled a glass of wine, no excuses from his side and he claimed that we did it... After some seconds he asked to offer a new glass which never arrived upon we asked for. Honestly the food was ok however the service is one of the worst I've experienced in my life, very unprofessional and not client friendly. Would I go back? HELL NO! If i could give 0 stars I would have done it.More
Went there with 2 couples for a pre booked table. Asked to sit outside and they were annoyed about this at first but seated us. After 15 mins of no service they eventually returned and forced us inside. During the meal the waiter knocked over...a glass of wine and got aggressive when asked to replace it . Food was pretty good but the service was bad even for Brussels. I would not recommend this to anyone given the experience we had .More
Great food in a very pleasant setting.in the city centre of Brussels. Italian stylen cuisine. Great variety of pasta..very tastefull. Not a big restaurant but very Nice Service was ok. Great choice of wines
Looks like a very family restaurant. Pasta with truffles for 17€ was just fantastic. Fireplace adds comfort in rainy days. Service is fast. House red wine is amazing.
If you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant with not so expensive dishes, this is the place to go! The variety of pasta dishes is incredible, there are also a few dishes with meat, pork and fish. Wine can be a little expensive, but...the environment of this place is cozy and chic. Since it is located in the old historic part of Brussels, it is an excellent place for dinner after a long day of walking. They have amazing grappa!More
