A charming and quirky restaurant that I am so pleased to have visited. We sat upstairs which was slightly quieter, but the beautiful roof was lovely to sit under. Such friendly and helpful staff that made us feel so welcome. Lovely food with an interesting...menu and great drink on offer too.More

The meat was incredible. It was extremely tasty. I will definitely go back. Very friendly staff. We arrive without reservations but they were super kind.

Went for a quick lunch but ended up sitting one hour enjoying a beer and a Magret de Canard a l’orange. Really good taste and steaming hot. Nice atmosphere - a bit slow service.

Beautifull Art Nouveau restaurant, which has not yet been turned into a tourist trap, a high-priced bobo m'as-tu-vu place or a mediocre "adaptation to modern times". La Porteuse d'Eau has kept its peculiar character and unspoiled decoration. Don't go there for high ambition gastronomy. Their...choice is for traditionnal dishes, à la bonne franquette, professionally prepared and served, and priced accordingly. That makes an excellent value-for-money proposition. Even more importantly, this offering is a perfect complement to the architectural setting for a genuine and enjoyable overall experience, as opposed to just hunt for a photogenic dish. Last but not least, the staff was very friendly, and went out of its way to make sure that we had a nice evening. We left with the impression that we had touched the soul of the place, rather than just eating out in a restaurant of which there are thirteen in a dozen.More

Oups.... 6.70 euro for an Orval beer. That’s like 2euro more than I have ever paid for an Orval. Otherwise the restaurant looks nice.

I have followed a friend’s indication and really enjoyed. There is a large variety of beers and limited choices of wines. The croquetes were nice and the mules excellent. I had mussels with mushrooms and bacon for a change and it proves a very good...combination of flavors. Service is friendly.More

My fiancé had gone to a lot of trouble to arrange a meal in this Art Nouveau brasserie in Brussels where we spent a night last month on our way to Amsterdam. The owner and his staff went to a lot of trouble to ensure...we had a memorable evening. The food was superb especially the moules and the home made sorbet was the best I have ever tasted. Would definitely recommend this lovely place.More

Really fancied a Carbonade Flamande and thought this would be good here. The decor and ambience here is superb, and the menu is varied. However, on this day the two of us that had the carbonade were disappointed. The meat was tough, very gristly and...evidently cooked too fast. We left quite a bit .... the gravy / sauce was as expected !More

With its Art Nouveau decor, it is a place that could only exist in Brussels. The food is very Belgian too and very good. Service is excellent and helpful, but relaxed. We had a bit of a family reunion one Sunday recently. We got good food...and were well looked after. We stayed quite a long time and were never made to feel that we should hurry. It's good too if you just want to drop in for a quiet drink or a snack.More

First the good points: Nice Art Deco interior. Good house wine. Friendly waiter. Now the rest: It wasn’t very crowded and still we had to wait around 40min for the food. The linguine didn’t have any sauce and was just prepared with oil and served...with green beans (?!), cauliflower (?!), broccoli (?!). It’s a dish I could prepare with eyes closed in <15min at home. The vegetarian burger was pathetic. No cheese, just one tiny slice of tomato. Roquefort sauce - tasteless. Bread very poor quality. Ridiculous to pay >15€ for this. Most places in Brussels serve much better burgers for less money. Plus, the water tab in the woman’s bathroom didn’t work. Conclusion: Maybe they know how to prepare traditional Belgian dishes, but stay away from this place if you’re looking for a meat-free dish.More

Just 10 minutes walk from our hotel at Gare de Midi, this family restaurant was perfect for us and even satisfied our fussy teenage son. An excellent range of Belgian and Trappist beers is complemented by freshly cooked food, served in a friendly and informal...atmosphere. We went early evening and it wasn't very busy, but the heatwave was probably a factor, this being off the tourist track in Brussels. The steaks, cod fillet and vegetarian food were all excellent. Highly recommended.More
