My twin brother Stephen was in command of the day ,we had a great day of sightseeing to do and a definite itinerary if great taverns to visit ,my twin certainly knows the best pubs and taverns in any city we visit,we has already been to Au Bon Vieux Temps,Toone and A La Becasse ,three of the four famous alleyway taverns in this beer mad city ,this visit to A L'Imaige Nostre Dame completed the set ,it's a tavern we've been to on many occasions to Brussels,a tavern we always look forward to visiting.
I love the look of this tavern ,interior is superb,a small serving bar, eclectic decor and furnishings, beer enamels adorning the walls ,stained glass windows and lots of seating options ,it's just a great tavern ,a tavern that's been serving great beers since 1664 ,it's certainly got some history attached to it.
We were here on a Thursday afternoon ,tavern was busy with a great atmosphere ,we grabbed a table and had a study of their great beer list ,we both opted to have a great beer befitting such a wonderful tavern and we both chose La Corne from Ebly Brewery ,served in it's distinctive horn shaped glass complete with wooden stand was served in excellent condition ,we chilled out and took in the great tavern we were in.
This beer is a strong ale weighing in at 8%ABV ,hints of coffee, chocolate with a malty taste ,it's an ale not to rush but to savour but being in such a fantastic tavern enjoying a quality ale why would you want to rush anything.
We moved on after our great ale and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
A L'Imaige Nostre Dame is easy to locate along Rue Marche Aux Herbes .
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, open from 11am till very ,very late.
Well worth seeking out if you're in the area.

Nice place to have drinks in the center of Brussels. The prices are okay and the beer was really good but the staff was not that great, I don't know if it's due to the number of guests but we waited around 15min to get served. Other than that, a very nice place.

Another hidden gem down an alleyway. Friendly bartender & a great selection of Belgian beers, reasonably priced. The only downside was the outside toilet, otherwise well worth a visit.

Given the mostly positive reviews, perhaps we just had an unfortunate experience. We called in for a drink and were horrified to discover that 3 of the 4 beers we ordered (including one recommended to us by the quite miserable bar lady) were €24 for a small bottle! It was good beer, but not that good! Additionally I was told the toilets were disgusting, luckily I didn't experience this. I definitely won't be rushing back.

This has earlier been a good belgian craft beer place with nice atmosphere. Now they served two on tap and had only two bottled beers. The two on tap where defenitly diluted with hardly any taste at all. I am very interested in belgian beers so I am pretty sure. The smell of cannabis was heavy and further inhibited the apetite for beer tasting. I am sorry to say but I cant recommend anyone to go there. There are sp many better places in Brussels.

Popped in on a Saturday night for a couple of beers after arriving on a late Eurostar. The bar is tucked away down an alley so only found it due to one of our party having previously worked in Brussels. Good range of beer on offer. Quirky toilets outside the bar caught one or two people out. Well worth a visit.

Small bar juts off the main tourist track though does seem to attract mainly tourist, and the beer range is targetted accordingly. Very interesting decor.

Strange little “pub” down a tiny alley. We asked for 2 beer tasting trays between 4 of us and got 8 different glasses, which was great. Definitely worth seeking out.

My favorite among the old near-hidden beer bars in Brussels. We're told the place has been in operation since the 1600s in one way or another, and it looks it (in a good way) - old wood tables, chairs, bar, low ceilings.

A L'Imiage Nostre-Dame Estaminet on Rue Marché aux Herbes is a alley-way pub with bag's of character and is one of the three alley-way pub's located behind the church of St.Nicholas.
Of the three alley-way pubs we went to this one was without a doubt the best one that we went to and that is saying something as the other two are magnificent. This one is a bit rough and ready with its rustic look and feel'stained glass features and many more interesting items throughout the whole bar interior and wooden benches.
Established in 1884 and housed in a superb building that dates from 1664'this excellent pub offer a superb range of Belgium beers which are well priced for this area. This is a brilliant pub and one we have visited many time's over the year's as there is always an excellent atmosphere in here.
This was our first visit to this brilliant pub in two and a half year's due to the Covid-19 restrictions and what a nice time we had in this brilliant pub.We only stayed here for a few beers as we were on a pub crawl but it hasn't hardly changed.
When we went here we had a Belgium beer from the Ebly brewery called La Corne'this superb beer is fairly strong and served in a distinct glass. The beer was superb and for this area of Brussels well priced.
If you are ever in Brussels and you want to visit a traditional Belgium pub give this one a look you won't be disappointed. This pub is very easy to locate as its a minute's walk from De Brouckère bus or tram stop.(This is my first review of A L'Imiage Nostre-Dame Estaminet).

Great pub, with an excellent selection of Trappist beers. Only found it because we did a private beer tour.

A l'Imaige Nostre-Dame was known as a nice and typical place for a drink in the center of Brussels. We have been very badly surprised on how the place is now... Dirty tables, nice choice of beer, indeed, but the glasses are not always clean, customers at the bar seem to stay there during the whole day and very expensive price. For two beers (fortunately in clean glasses), we have paid 10€.
Probably the last time I went there...

Ok, we walked by 2-3 times before we found the little alleyway into this hidden gem. It’s a tiny little place that only locals normally go to. We had a cheese & sausage tray and we each tried a flight of beer. Fun to be able to try several beers and sit & relax away from the crowds. You only have to find it!

Found this bar by searching trip advisor. Glad I did otherwise probably would have missed it.

As soon as I saw the narrow alley guiding me to this place, I knew it was worth a look. Seems like a popular spot for the locals as the barkeep was in steady conversation with those on the makeshift patio outside the entrance. He was friendly and welcoming, offering us advice on the different beers that were available.
The decor is very eclectic and one could spend a good hour or more looking around (much like an "I Spy" book). It's a no nonsense kind of place that's there for gathering rather than impressing. Around the corner from our seats, a local patron (I assume) was having a midday snooze, which added to the unique experience.
Definitely worth a look if you want something off the beaten path and away from the excessive tourism. I was glad to have visited.
