I arrived, on my own, at about 9pm on a Tuesday. The place was very busy, with only a couple of tables free. This made it easy to blend in with the noisy atmosphere. I had absolutely no problem with the service, the beer, or the straightforward food that I chose (a typical Belgian interpretation of lasagne). The prices are... More

The portions were big enough. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. There is also a great variety of beers to accompany your... More

Came on a Thursday night at around 9:40 pm. There were a number of tables empty. Asked for a table and was told to wait. Asked another person no response. Then another. They said wait. After staring down a waitress for 15 minutes they seat us. This is when there are a lot of tables free. I had already eaten... More

We were walking around Brussels and started getting hungry. We fell into Skievelat and really enjoyed it. The service was wonderful (it was late afternoon so the dinner rush may not have been on). It is not in the tourist area so that may have helped. The decor has a mixture of wood and industrial feel to it. Rather funky... More

Had dinner here last night. It was warm and cozy, with a good amount of people. We both ordered the scampi with spaghetti in house sauce. It was really good.

Having read the reviews here and elsewhere I was expecting a value for money Belgian bistro lunch, nothing fancy, just a tasty midday meal. What we got, on a relatively unhurried day, was mostly foodstuff brought in from the cash-and-carry, warmed through and served erratically by a somewhat disengaged waitstaff. The special menu of the day was a terrine, obviously... More

My wife and I found Skievelat on a one-night visit to Brussels a year ago when we Googled "places to go for mussels", and we loved it. I went back a year later on a three-night visit, and I loved it again. Quiet, dark, friendly, and very Belgian. The mussels were delicious, the beer was good (the waiters recommended a... More
