Being in charge of finding a place to host about 15 people from various horizons, eager to taste "serious" Belgian/French cuisine, I was happy to find Ogenblik could manage our group: flexibility in the menu options, coping with repeated changes in numbers and selections from...us, and mostly: still the great food I remembered from long ago. Slight downside: finally 17 guests, we were obviously testing the space limitations of the place, so were a bit squeezed at our long table, but that was fine (I was a bit sorry for our neighbours possibly hoping to have a quiet romantic face-to-face next to our very noisy big table). Service was a bit impersonal - to be expected with a full house - but could not be found at fault for anything, and remained smiling all along !More

Really disappointed by our recent “welcome.” I have eaten here many times before and always found the service and quality of food to be a hidden gem in an otherwise over-trafficked and over-touristed trap of a neighborhood. Regrettably the Ogenblik has headed this way too…...shall we say in the blink of an eye? Knowing it a popular spot, I booked a week ahead of time by email. Arrived on time to be told that we were half an hour early. No bother, I pretended to be at fault and took my father-in-law and partner for a bit of shop browsing in the arcades. The return “on time” led us to be literally smashed into a cramped 2-top for three people with no possibilities for anything else (“sorry we are so fully booked”). Never mind that the host then preceded to re-seat two other tables with similar complaints later on. The “service” was a circus. My non-French-speaking father-in-law found it all quite amusing - tant mieux - but I did not. To harass your customers at every turn that you aren’t ignoring them. To leave an unopened bottle of wine on the table for 10 minutes while juggling three other tasks. To yell at and prod your support staff around. And then to (yes literally) growl at their own customers when asked for a bottle of ketchup. It was stressful, it was over the top, and it was unnecessary. There are excellent restaurants in Brussels. This restaurant offers excellent food, but is in no way an excellent restaurant. Avoid.More

It is always a pleasure eating here. Classic French/Belgian cooking. Very nice and friendly staff (and experienced chef). This time we enjoyed classics like filet au sauce poivre, deer, and beef stroganoff. Classic food, classic wines, and, of course, small tables (but, who cares!). We'll...be back for more.More

We arrived to find that our table was taken by a smaller group. The maître d made us wait outside in the cold, pretending to be hurrying the unwanted guests to finish their starter before moving them to another table (poor them!). All the while,...no apologies, no offer of a drink on the house... We have come to expect this kind of detestable, unprofessional service wherever we go in Brussels. You could call it a trademark! We left after the waiter lost his cool after we complained. No more Ogenblik for me, thank you.More

Traditional food in Brussels downtown. Cosy place with traditional furniture. All meals are prepared daily with wide wine selection. Menu is only French. However, it’s worth to try.

Restaurant in the heart of Brussels that serves authentic Belgian cuisine. You'll feel a very jovial and welcoming vibe when eating here. Love the old fashioned atmosphere of this place. My friend and I loved the food and the friendly waiters. The carpaccio of scallops...was outstanding and the steamed cod with spinach lovely. We were seated quite close to the kitchen, which wasn't ideal, because of the coming and going of the waiters. I would ask for a different table when visiting again.More

Loved everything about this place. A friend recommended it and we gave it a try. It was crowded at lunchtime and we were lucky to be squeezed in, I think. Waiter Luis recommended the Norwegian skrei and it was every bit as good as he...promised. We only had three days in Brussels, so we only managed to get back one more time for lunch. I would return to Brussels just to eat at L'Ogenblik. The place has great ambiance and charm and the very busy staff are helpful and delightful.More

We came upon the restaurant by walking around the very chic galerie and were lucky to get a table on a Saturday night. We absolutely loved the food and there is a great choice of wines.

Ogenblik is always deliveries sizable portions. Streamed cod was well cooked but they should serve the sauce apart. The place is brasserie style. It gets crowded as the place is small. Some wear and tear is obvious in this place. Service friendly and at times...attentive.More

An excellent brasserie located in the Galerie des Princes. It is an authentic Belgian atmosphere with a very careful decoration. Exquisite and high quality food. The price matches the quality offered and the service is professional and friendly. Highly recommended to book in advance.

In an age where we cannot escape sameness or “English translations” it is refreshing (to us) to find an unapologetically French/Belgian Restaurant that has a menu ONLY in French and which no one translates. This is a true experience of another culture in my humble...opinion. We worked out ordering items that sounded familiar. The salmon and beef were amazing! It was all about the sauces. This restaurant is worth it. Convenient (galleries shopping area) and authentic and delicious!More

An amazing place. Just be aware that getting you order through might take some time. But the wait is worth every second. Actually think it’s one of the very best places I’ve been at in Brussels. And if the waiter recommends something - take it....They know what they are doing. Clearly a place to come back to. Again. Been there three times now.More

Excellent food and good wine list. We had scallops, tomato salad, sea bass and beef stroganoff, can’t fault any of the food it was simple and really tasty. Large portion sizes too, you won’t leave hungry! We found the waiters friendly and patient as our...French is rusty. Quick service, we were done in 90 minutes. Best to reserve a table, we saw lots of walk ins get turned away on a Friday evening. The restaurant is cosy and decorated in traditional bistro style. The only slight downside is that you pay tourist prices given the location so close to the Grand Place etc. Two courses & a bottle of wine was €170. Nonetheless the product was good and would visit again.More

Let’s be clear, food is very decent and the proposals in the menu very attractive. I’m just a bit disappointed by some (important) details, such as a superb fish tartare, with very good seasoning but completely drowned in oil. People with me had similar issues:...good dishes, but you feel they could go the extra mile without much additional effort to go from good to very good.More
