Covid 19 didn't stop us

This lovely restaurant is situated in a lively and colourful district in Brussels, and it was the first one we chose to try since the lockdown was relaxed and places were allowed to open up again. Super friendly owner who is respecting social distancing rules, and the food was super! We had Pakora to start. Light and crispy, and Lamb Buna, and vegetable korma for main. Everything was so delicious including the Indian breads. Highly recommended!! We will return.

Bollywood in the heart of Brussels

Mumtaz is a little pearl in the heart of Brussels. The food is sublime and the host is kind and thoughtful. He took the time to explain each dish and tea mixture to every person who had a question about it. The ingredients are fresh and the spices flavourful without being overpowering. I can't wait to go back and taste the promised panipuri!

Excellent/Authentic Pakistani food in Brussels

Mumtaz is an absolutely amazing Pakistani restaurant in Brussels. It felt as if I’m eating at a fine restaurant in Lahore (Pakistan). Food is delicious. We particularly loved their ‘naan’ bread which was crisp and mouth watering. Lentils and Aubergine vegetarian entrees were flavorful. I didn’t try any meat items, but I’m sure they are equally good. Service is fast and staff are very friendly.

Authentic and high-quality food, but service was very slow on the night we visited.

High-quality food but variable service. Sometimes, it is a very long wait for service and food. When the food comes, it is very high quality and authentic. On the night we visited we, and several other tables, waited an hour for service. No drinks order taken whilst we waited. No alcohol served in the restaurant. Could be a fantastic restaurant but can suffer staff shortages.

Don’t go ! we ordered take away there and the place was really dirty. Honestly it didn’t gave a good impression, we nevertheless paid for the food and we tried and the food was not good ! We ordered several classique Indian dishes and none of the was good. Honestly this is not a real restaurant !

New year in Mumtaz

We found the place accidentally and it was perfect! We had a three course menu for new years in very good price and amazing quality. All the courses were tasty and the personnel very kind and helpful. I absolutely recommend this place!

A disappointing dinner

All the three of us thought that the food was bad. They also charged us extra and did't give a receipt. When I e-mailed them about the mistake as I only noticed it at home, I never got an answer. Really can't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Wonderful food,friendly hostess,speaks English and French. Clean and neat,comfortable sitting and what a great experience.And the food came not long after we placed the order. This place is also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Very nice place. We came one hour before they actually opened, but the server was nice and let us in. We had some nice starters and an amazing main course. Very nice service!! Would recommend to anybody

Indian … not really !

Despite attentive waiter and OK menu, this visit confirmed that there is VERY FAR from India to Brussels. The Seekh Kebab was more boiled than grilled - and lacking taste and texture The Lamb Madras was nowhere near the original - more like a spicy red tomato sauce with tender pieces of lamb. Why are plain Naan in Belgium (and Germany) most often too sweet and “spongy” … close to a donut dough ? Also interesting that the owner and waiter had dinner in the restaurant while serving … hope we didn’t disturb their meal 😅 All together - thanks … but no thanks.

Dear Mr. Damsbo, I am sorry, for The inconvenience caused by the staff, having food while you’re eating. I believe people forget that restaurant workers are working in high pressure situations and with all preparations, our head chef did not have the chance to have a meal for the whole day which is the reason while they ate as he could not wait for medical reason as he needed to take his insulin. I am a bit amazed by your review on our food as we are known for providing quality food for over 40 years in all our establishments. Upon checking with the staff it seemed that you were looking like having a bad day and therefore we’re already unhappy and very nonchalant and they came to your table to ask a few time if everything was fine which you confirmed which is very biased as if something was wrong why did you not mention in the restaurant as our staff was attentive to you and kept on asking if everything is good without you ever mentioning anything wrong. I do believe the fact of you having a bad day was part of writing this review, I hope that you are having a better day and please keep smiling and do mention next time you are in the restaurant if something is not right or the way you want it to be. Thank you but no thank you.

Extraordinary food

We ate dinner at the restaurant. Not only did the food taste excellent, the service was great too! I can only recommend the place to anyone who loves great Indian food! Freshly cooked meals with fair prices. 👍

Thé Best food in Brussels like always we go there and we love the food it’s just amazing if you love the food this is the place that I can recommend to Everyone to go there and enjoy the food it’s just delicious I love the CH T Masala and the mix grill ouffff full off 🔥🔥🔥fire I love it with the cheese and garlic naan 🫓 made just more delicious 😋

A scam!

Felt cheated. My friend and I went here last night, and ordered three dishes. Seeing it was too much, we asked for the last dish to be wrapped for take away. The manager took it away and said he was "wrapping it up" for us. After we paid (and after he asked us to leave a good review on Tripadvisor!), we asked for our bagged food. "Oh sorry you wanted it wrapped?" Apparently he threw it in the bin. When we asked for a refund, his response was "oh sorry I already closed the til, just come back to Brussels next time." 16 euros thrown away, not even a refund. Dishonest, will never come back again. One has to wonder what kind of business practices they do to "last" this long.

Mr. Aaron, Shameful and pitiful for you to be writing such a review, this exactly shows the negative personality you abode but most importantly a deceitful Individual. Firstly, the last dish which was half a chicken leg piece was the dish taken from your table and at no point you asked for a takeaway, because if so I would have made sure this was done and my customers will agree as my level of attention to my customers needs and requests are always made sure of. Anyhow, upon you asking for your take-out we were a bit surprised but as good customer service, we did not dispute the fact and we agreed without countering your request, but you did not ask at any point as you were busy in your discussion. But you forgot to mention all the attentiveness and advices provided to you by the team and made you feel comfortable and made sure that all was fine on your table on numerous occasion but as a non-positive individual you only remember the negative, like come-on Seriously!!! Lastly, the question asked, was, to be correct "Do you live in Brussels which you replied YES!!! therefore I suggested a dish on the house" to not let you down as we had closed our till, and if you are aware and can check restaurants are equipped with a Black-Box and once we close the day, the financial information is transferred to the finance ministry of Belgium and we are not able to make any movements. But you replied this was fine and will be happy to come back and take the commercial gesture proposed, if this was not the case then you should have said and we would have found a way to reimburse you or find a solution. So therefore, I am very upset and disappointed in your wrongful remarks and false review, as said we would have found a solution and if not possible to visit us anymore then I am happy to make a bank transfer.
