About
Welcome to the Chocolate factory - shop -tea room in Koekelberg! Frederic Blondeel is not only one of Belgium’s finest chocolatiers, in heart and soul he is a roaster. A burner of cocoa beans, until they have taken on the desired taste and texture. For this he uses among others the Santos Palace Coffee Roaster, a device from his grandfather and dating back to 1953. The tradition may be historic, but the working method is not. The most modern of techniques help him on the way to the end result: the production of grand cru chocolates. In 2019, he received the prize of the best chocolatier of Benelux by Gault & Millau. Truly, a place to discover. His chocolate factory (which is also his boutique) is an Alibaba cave -). There is a small private car park which is nice. You can of course discover its large counter of pralines and chocolate bars, but also artisanal biscuits and coffee as well as a small ice cream counter that you can taste on site. For all lovers of real good chocolate, I invite you to go there, it’s worth it! My favorite pralines: dark chocolate feuillantine truffle and raspberry ganache. Too good !

It's a bit of a trip to get to this location, particularly with mass transit, but it's worth it. The hot chocolate is wonderful, and the selection of chocolate is excellent. Frederic Blondeel makes delicious fresh truffles and pralines on-site in this factory, and you can also purchase boxes of Florentines and other cookies to take home to friends.

Family-style chocolate manufacture where you can observe the process behind glass door. Unlucky for me, the factory was not currently working at the moment when I visited the place. I recommend to get where there is any tour and join the group, if possible.
From the café's offer, you can have the drinks that are commonly available at cafés, ice cream, but the most importantly - chocolate that was created here. You get a piece with your coffee, so you can have tasting at the spot. But I recommend you to by some for your or for your friends, at the chocolate is very tasty and basically everyone can choose something to their liking.

I must say chocolate is my favourite thing in the world. During my trip in Brussels, I tried many type of chocolate from different shops. Believe me when I say the chocolates from Frederic are amazing. Me and my boyfriend had a hot chocolate, which was really good!!! We bought a lot of chocolates for us and for our family. The people were very nice. The place is really sweet and it smells of cocoa, as the factory is just behind the person who sells chocolates. Best chocolate experience ever!!

The best chocolates in Brussels by far! We come here very regularly and our favourites are the ganaches.
The cafe is super too, with a cosy inside space which smells simply wonderful and some nice outside seating for the days when Brussels is sunny.
If you come you also have to try their icecream, which is incredibly good value and superb with lots of flavour choices and served in a cone filled with delicious chocolate. My favourites are the rum and raisin, the cardamom and the chocolate orange flavour.

Great ice cream on a big terrasse where children can play freely. The chocolates are obviously delicious as well. Highly recommended!

I used to like this place. It was always a bit too cold in the winter but they served waffels with homemade sauces, hot chocolate with they own pralines. There was always something little more. This has changed. The place got new design and new policy. You get the same stuff like everywhere in average quality. It may still be ok to buy their chocolate but I was so upset that I haven't even try. I took there my friend who visited Brussels and was very embarassed.

I always buy here whenever I’m in Brussels. I think it’s a little more unique and harder to get than some of the big stores, so it makes a great gift to bring home (you can’t buy this stuff in the airport). My friends, family, and coworkers have always loved it. The truffles are the best! This time I got to pick out some of the Easter candies which looked gorgeous.

Popped in for Breakfast on Saturday morning.
We had waffles and hot chocolate.
Both were amazing.
Would definitely recommend this place if you are in Brussels.
We tried 6 of the pralines too which were soooo good!

There are beautiful chocolates on display, but the Hot chocolate is smooth and warming its a MUST
There are only about 20 seats, but on a Saturday morning when we visited, it was filled with locals (always a good sign).
The poor owner was very busy, but he was warm & welcoming

We came as part of our chocolate tour and so glad this was a stop! Really divine chocolates! Wow! Decadent single origin varieties mixed with inventive flavors like cardamom and berries, chili and ginger, and jasmine tea. So many to choose from! Definitely worth a visit!

My partner was harassed by him. Long story short, he came up to my partner when he was just looking for the toilet to tell him how he “like him” (I think he doesn’t speak English very well I think he meant he like his physique). He told my partner that his ex was the same size as him, “big chest”. My partner brushed it off and went to the toilet. The worst part was he was waiting for him outside of the toilet area to “talk” to him again and squeezed my partner’s arms just because he likes it. My partner was terrified and we left the place ASAP.
Ps, the hot chocolate was ok. Not worth the second trip

I had read an article about the best chocolate shops in Brussels and Frederic Blondeel was on the list. We enjoyed the selection process and soon a great box of chocolates to bring home. The staff was helpful in the selection process. There are so many kinds of chocolate to choose from. Definitely worth the visit.

We went here on a chocolate tasting tour, and this chocolate was amazingly delicious. There were flavors I wouldn’t have thought would be good with chocolate, but was really good. They are closed on Mondays, so plan ahead.

I want to move to Brussels just so I can have one piece of chocolate from Frederic Blondeel every day. Once you taste his chocolates, nothing else will ever compare. This place is a hidden gem.
