I enjoyed my tasty cesar salad and found the historic Place des Martyrs a very pleasant place to sit and eat. Their new menu in modernised and upgraded and the food here is good.

Very bad service! Unpleasant waiter! We were served some bread while waiting for the dishes but then the waiter took it away from us, telling us that we had to pay for it because we had ordered some "croque-monsieur". Disrespectful waiter as well when paying...the check even though he was the one who had made a mistake! Absolutely not recommended place!More
Brosella is in a wonderful setting on the picturesque and car-free 18th Century Place des Martyrs, where it has its terrace. Only a short walk from the Grand Place, it is an ideal place to enjoy the sun (or shelter from the rain) while having...a reasonably priced, typical Belgian dish. Try carbonnade à la flamande, a steak, mussels or blanquette de veau or a vegetarian dish. In the mornings they serve breakfast, at lunch there is a fixed-price menu and you can eat à la carte also in the evening. Highly recommended.More
After a poor experience earlier in the day we found this place. Waiter was great. Knew the menu, spoke English, advised on beer and wine and on foods to have. Food was excellent, my wife like the recommended wine and I like the beer suggested....It was a quiet dinner time for the restaurant but we enjoyed the old world atmosphere. There is a monument of the MartyrsMore
The alley is quiet and near a revered Belgian monument. The service was great. Our waiter recommended a great beer and a good meal. The flemish stew was awesome. The flavors were wonderful and went even better with the fries. The smoked salmon on the...pasta was delicious. Both of our meals were great. We'd definitely return if we were in the area again.More
My husband and I were visiting the Place Des Martyrs and looked at this restaurant located in front of it. We decided to have lunch there. I asked for a "meal of the day" (pork meat with potatoes) and my husband asked for a bolognese...spaghetti. Both of them was delicious and the price and service were good.More
We arrived on a lovely Saturday afternoon having visited a few times previously. We sat down and ordered two beers, my husband a lasagne and myself a Caprese salad. We waited almost 20 minutes for the beers and an hour and ten minutes for the...food, when I asked how much longer our food would be after nearly an hour, I was told it was taking a while because although I’d ordered salad my husband had ordered a lasagne (we have eaten here a few times previously and lasagne had never taken that long) Other people arrived after us and had starter and main and others had arrived, eaten and left. Once we’d eaten our bread arrived. Such a shame as we have enjoyed this place in the past, very annoying.More
After visiting the stunning and poignant Place Des Martyrs we dropped into Le Brosella for a quick beer. I love the look of this tavern, a really good interior with superb decor and furnishings, a light and airy look, plenty of seating options spread throughout this...tavern both inside and outside looking out onto magnificent Place Des Martyrs. We were here on a Saturday late afternoon, this place was busy with a great vibe,we got a table were a very pleasant member of staff served us a beer each,we opted to have Brouwerij Haacht primus beer, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling, we just chilled out and took in the great tavern we were in . My beer was outstanding, a light, hoppy and unpretentious beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink ,a beer style I really enjoy, my twin brother also gave the thumbs up his beer. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although we only stayed for the one beer each before we moved on as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Le Brosella is easy to locate on Rue Saint Michel ,its facing the stunning Place Des Martyrs. Well worth checking out if your in the area.More
We had lunch here and the waiter was very polite. The food (endives and crocettes) was promptly served but mildly uninteresting. Nice location though.
We came across this cafe bar just off the main shopping street, Rue Neuve. It’s on a quiet corner plot facing the Place des Martyrs. The service was very friendly and not at all as described in other reviews. The food was fresh and tasty...and very competitively priced, as were the drinks. The highlight of the menu was the meatballs in tomato sauce. We visited early evening two nights running and the food and service were really consistent. Brussels doesn’t seem to have a lot of places like this, as there are so many fast food joints and restaurants with off-hand service. This is a relaxing friendly place, worth the short detour from the Main Street. Would definitely recommend!More
So this spot is excellent if you want a quick break from the shopping street and sit down and relax. However, the prices are high comparing to the (low) qualilty of food.
I spotted this place in the background of a Streetview picture while looking for a decent cafe, we passed a few mediocre cafes on our way and were pleased to find this little gem. Not too busy on Saturday lunchtime. The salads are huge and...delicious. Sat outside under the huge sunbrollies. Will come again. Off the beaten track.More
Fantastically chilled place to stop and have a beer or two! Great staff, great beer and a pretty good view of the Place de Martyrs while your at it! Free nibbles too!
We were heading to the wonderful Place Des Martyrs and had just been to Le Corbeau when after visiting the fantastic monument we dropped into here for a couple of beers. The bar looks awesome ,it's got a modern light and airy interior with nice...decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar. We were here on a Wednesday early evening and this bar was busy with a cracking atmosphere, after a quick study of the beers on offer my twin brother Stephen and I decided to have that most Belgium of beers namely Primus beer and these beers were served iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and took in the great bar we were in. Our beers were superb ,Primus beer is a light and unpretentious beer and very drinkable indeed and coupled with the great bar we were in made for a great place to enjoy some beers. We really enjoyed our beers here ,so much so that we ended up staying here for two beers each before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with this great bar. Le Brosella is really easy to locate ,we walked down the shopping street Rue Neuve and cut onto Rue Saint Michel were you will find this bar ,its more or less facing the Place Des Martyrs. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,9am till Midnight. A great bar and well worth checking out.More
I have visited this restaurant more than once during lunch hour. The staff is very polite, and even on a moment when there were a lot of visitors the service was very quick, and good quailty and large portions.
