This was one of the most incredible meals I’ve ever eaten. When I contacted the restaurant a few weeks before our trip to Brussels they were fully booked out but we were lucky enough to get a cancellation. I can understand why it’s booked out...so far in advance. Everything about the meal was perfect. The staff are very friendly and very helpful in explaining each course (in particular the guy with the amazing moustache/beard I didn’t catch his name!) the menu we had was - Grilled eggplant, buckwheat, umeboshi, salsa verde -Smoked tomato tartar, mackerel, lactofermented jus - Saithe, pearl barley, zucchini, lamb vadouvan, peas, harissa, staka - The cheeses of Bernard and Jean-François Antony - Pineapple, sorrel sorbet, meringue - Strawberries, panna cotta, agastache, pistachio - Sweets Each course was so beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We loved every course, we spent the whole evening there, no rushing of courses or by staff. It was so reasonably priced for the level of service and quality of food. I would give this place 10/10. Lovely evening spent at this small restaurant that used to be a butcher’s shop. Fixed 6 course menu (changes regularly). Beautifully presented dishes with lots of taste and a few new ingredients. Our waiter was very friendly and explained every dish. Decent wine list (2...red/2 white by glass as well). Will definitely come back.More

Tasting menu of 5 courses. The artichoke with orange and a cashew cream, and the intense but tiny citrus gel in the dashi served with the maigre (white sea bass) would be two highlights. A superb whipped chickpea butter with sumac was the star thing....My guess is the only blocker to an upgrade from a guide mention to a Michelin star is the upstairs bathroom access and the upstairs dining room carpet! Downstairs is small and keeps the original butcher shop marble counters as tables; with high and comfortably chairs. Staff are very professional and friendly. I'll be back ...More

Fantastic! Set menu was delicious and available for vegetarians. Service was friendly, good drink recommendations. We were sat upstairs which was a nice space but not as funky as the downstairs space.

I've visited a lot of toprestaurants all over the world. This is one of them. I must say it was a little bit special. You don"t go there for a big steak. It was a fixed menu with about 8 or 10 small portions, but...every portion was a gem. Original, rich taste, good looking, surprising, ... I enjoyed it from the start till the end. What can be improved? Menu is in French, which is for people speaking another language not always easy to understand. Wines (we tasted 2 whites and 2 red ones) were all top. Maybe the portions might be a little bigger. And the accoustic makes sometimes a conversation difficult to understand. Due to Corona/Covid I suppose the distance between the tables was bigger than normal, which was good. Gentle service! Will I go back. CertainlyMore

Let’s start with the wine. They don’t serve the white wine with ice cubes so you drink warm white wine, specially at 32 degrees Celsius you where expecting more attention in that sense. No idea of wine pairing. No air conditioning... they use fans. Overpriced, I’m...not going to go back, Disappointing experience. Impressed about the Average Quality. They tried but you can realise the dishes are not at the level. Because you add some veggies it doesn’t mean that are good, actually they should try if they are tasty at least. ... The only good thing was the bread and because is not from them... and the dark chocolate at the end.More

I'd been searching for a place to have a meal for a special celebration. Glad I chose La Buvette as the whole evening was a delight. We were looked after so well by our waitress who was incredibly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu...and wines. Each of the 5 courses were superb. Also we had the best table on the ground floor which had a delightful marble top. I couldn't recommend this place enough!!!More

made a reservation almost 1 month before and we got the worst table and the restaurant was empty! The waiter sad he couldn’t change. We then Ordered 2 times the 8 dishes menu and the waiter asked if we had any allergies. My friends sad...he couldn’t eat lemon. After 5 minutes, the waiter comes back saying all 8 dishes had lemon and couldn’t change that and asked as to leave!!!More

I feel sorry to leave a negative review because the staff were really welcoming, kind and professional. But I feel the food was definitely not up to the standard I expected; the presentation was not clean, the starter wrapped with thin pancake was soggy, the...grilled fish too salty as if it was cured. the desert was okay taste-wise but I could have made something like this. The ambience was lively, maybe too lively for a restaurant? Maybe it’s brussel’s dining culture, I don’t know. For a casual pub, it could make a nice place. For a quality restaurant, I wish I had chosen a different one.More

Such a fantastic neighborhood to reach when the sun is setting. And the atmosphere is great in this old butchers shop. Service is smiling and professional. And then you have the food: nouvelle cuisine inspired with tasty and strange, fantastic dishes. Absolutely top. Take the...cuttlefish and enjoy being in Saint Gilles!More

We have found the food in Belgium to be generally superb, so it takes something special to make me want to write a review. We loved this place! It’s a tasting type menu that doesn’t permit much input from the patron, so if you do...not wish to have a culinary exploration, don’t come. The chef puts a unique look on everything he produces and we found every course to be interesting, creative and delicious. The service is a bit slow due to the fact that the place is packed, but the staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful. We found the prices to be reasonable considering the quality and intricacy of preparation. If I had a complaint, it would be that the wine “pours” were rather skimpy and the price for those pours rather high. On the positive side, the pairings of wine to food were perfect. In any event, what might have been a reasonably priced meal wound up being rather expensive. Of course, one can always buy the bottle, not by the glass, but that rather kills the concept of food pairings doesn’t it. Oh well, life is not perfect but this restaurant is doing a rather good job.More

We had a wonderful time at La Buvette. The setting is simple in what seems to be in old butcher’s shop. Tiled walls, original metal work. Simple table setting and all together agreable ambiance. The food was delicious and innovative, a real treat – great...value for your money. We loved the courgette entré and the asparagus were cooked so they were both crunchy and soft. I ‘d like to know how to make that! A new wine glass was served with almost every plate, and we found each one different, interesting and unusual as they are natural wines. And then the deserts!! really were fresh, complex and creative. The service was very friendly and professional, with with short but precise desciptions of each plate, just the way you want it. I would recommend this place for all people who want a nice evening à deux or with good friends to share a culinary experience. Thank you!More

Nice trendy place, nice trendy tableware, friendly and trendy but very very slow service and unfortunately average and even below average food, especially considering the price. Burnt Aspargus, hard peas, hard rhubarb, tasteless artichoke, tough meat...and an expensive but average wine. I am afraid I...cannot recommend this place.More

I’ve been to La Buvette four times and was delighted with every visit. The food and menu are carefully and perfectly prepared, using the freshest ingredients. The skill in combining delicate flavors makes this a truly top notch restaurant. We last took our son there...for his 24th birthday and had been there for his 18th. He wants to keep returning. The service is attentive and wonderful at giving advice. They are young, lively, friendly people and make you feel welcome to be there. Looking forward to going back.More

This is quite a trendy restaurant in St Gilles. Relatively small seating areas in different rooms of a house. You can only choose between a five or an eight course menu and a vegetarian menu. We took the 5 course and vegetarian option. With wine...pairing. While the food was really good although smallish portions, the wine pairing was a bit disappointing. But it is the service that is a real let down. They clearly want it to be laid back, but that’s no excuse for not being attentive. Disappointing that you don’t get a written list of wines with the pairing.More
