If you want to have a Brunch/lunch with kids in a nice US decor, here is where you should go. Food is correct though a bit expensive but kids love it

Great place for kids, nice staff, lovely decoration, good menu options for kids and even for babies. Food is ok, not great, but a good options to go with kids.

I can forgive the slow service, but the place is overpriced for pretty basic, mediocre food. It is all about the atmosphere, I suppose, but even then, you'd expect a place like this to at least have decent frites, which it did not.

I’d give this place a wide birth if I was you. Food was bad. Service was bad. Took us 50 minutes to get our order. Two tables that came in after us got served before us. We ordered three more drinks mid meal that never came.

We needed a bit of a rest and a drink and this was the perfect place. The staff were attentive and friendly and the milkshakes were delicious. I especially enjoyed the spéculoos flavour.

We came for lunch and were very disappointing. The place is decorated in a cute decor. My boyfriend and I ordered a club sandwich and the pastrami bagel. We both took two bites and promptly left. The issue was with the construction of the food- nothing tasted quite right and felt rather cheaply put together. The bagel was very chewy and felt almost under cooked. The pastrami tasted and looked fake. The coleslaw had a very 'stinky feet' taste to it. The club sandwich had cheap cheddar, very little meat, and was extremely cold, limp, and 'blah'. When the waitress came to take our food away, she noticed we had barely eaten our food, and did not say a word to us about how it tasted, or if there was a problem. For the price of each meal (11-15 euros) we both expected something better. I would take your money and go eat a good lunch or brunch at another restaurant.

Even if sometimes you have to wait a while to get your order, it is always delicious and a nice experience to go to Le Balmoral. Dishes are good and the waiters and owner very efficient. The club sandwich is tasty and the hamburgers, juices and smoothies have that American flavor we are looking for. Decoration leads you to Dallas, to Route 66 or any of the American coffee in mid-Texas.. and all this in Brussels !!

ENG : I went there with my mom and we got attacked by the place's manager.
We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes before the manager came at us and said to my mom in an angry tone "what's with that face?". Then she added "it's not like we don't have work to do around here!". I wanted to say that she needed to clean the floor then but whatever, I was shocked.
So basically it's pricey (not saying anything about that, we were willing to spend our money in there) but that kind of attack was not expected.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a lovely little place but tell me why, oh why, does it take so long to get served ?
Food is OK for what it is, and the location ensures a certain type of clientele, but I find the patron/owner to be over-fussy and ever-present, jumping In unnecessarily when the poor server was trying to do her best.
This lead to a little unnecessary tension and additional waiting time when all I wanted was a quick (sic) club sandwich and an orange juice (!)
Overall score C minus ....
Improve your service !
It’s only just a diner, remember, not a Michelin Star restaurant

I stopped going to Le Balmoral because of their awful habit of moving people around to accommodate larger groups, even when they already started on their food. But when my niece and grandniece visited I made an exception. Kids love the colourful 1960s American diner-style interior with chrome and vinyl chairs and stools, neon lights, a sputnik chandelier, murals, enamel signs, American license plates, Betty Boop statuettes, and what have you. The prospect of having lunch in a narrow booth with a pink table top was met with delight. We had a cheese hamburger with chips, a club country cheese sandwich, and fried eggs with toast. The food was okay and reasonably priced. Service was quick though not exuberantly friendly. On a Sunday at lunchtime the place was packed and noisy with lots of young children running around.
It’s a real shame the 1900s house where the restaurant is located is in such a bad shape. However, architecture lovers will be delighted to discover the many well-preserved Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings around Place Brugmann. The church (Église Notre-Dame de l’Annonciation), designed by Belgian architect Camille Damman (1880-1969) in 1934 also has Art Deco elements.

The dinner looks really good decoration wise but it’s dirty, smelly (kitchen is not closed and you get all the smell deep in your clothes) and the food was not good!
Another disappointment is the employees, not friendly and they got one order wrong and tried to blame it on us and make us pay it. They didn’t t even have the decency to apologise!
First time in this place and the last one as well!!

I ordered a "croque monsieur" to go for almost 10€... The ham was bad, some kind of gelatinous cheap ham and the cheese had no taste. For 10€ they could use real ingredient. I do not recommend this place.
The interior design is the only "interesting" thing there.
Save your money ;)

I went to Le Balmoral for lunch on Saturday, and although my original plan was to sit inside and enjoy the interior, the weather was so nice I sat outside - and now I believe it was a good decision!
But, first things first - I ordered a vegetarian burger and a drink. The waitresses were nice, which is not obvious in Brussels. The food was good - although I was starving, so I guess I would eat anything ;) The veggie burger actually looked very meaty, and I liked the addition of grilled veggies inside. There was also a small side salad, but chips were the best! They were actually more like potato wedges, which I prefer. I also liked the sauce - it was like a light tartar sauce.
After eating, I went to the toilet, and then I noticed that the inside was sadly quite warm and with a frying smell. Someone mentioned in a comment below that he/she had the same situation, so perhaps it is something permanent...
So to sum up, I would recommend the place, and I would come back to try their sweet things (I was too full after the burger to take anything else), but only if I can sit outside!

This restaurant is really pretty and looks like an American diner of the 50's.
You can enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and also nice waffles and milkshakes. Staff is very nice (better than the average of Brussels!), service is fast.
We enjoyed eating on the terrace facing the Place Brugmann.

If there's anything worthful you wanna do with you day, it'll be NOT to go there.
The place seems old, there's fat everywhere, it isn't hygienic, and worst of all is that dreadful manager which treats her clients like some sort of insignificant vermin... We tried to sit at a first spot, she told us to move to keep space for other clients (there was plenty of space in the rest of the restaurant), we wanted to order one milkshake for 2, she told us to leave if we were not to buy at least 2 drinks for 2 people. Never in my life have I been treated this way in a restaurant, I don't understand how this place is still up and running with such an awful service..
