Happened to be near Le Cirio on our first night in Brussels and were pleasantly surprised to get a table straight away at 8pm on a Friday night. It’s not a big place, but beautiful old decor inside and a swift and attentive waiter. We had Flemish stew and Waterzooi chicken, shrimp croquettes to share and a couple of beers: everything was delicious and good prices so close to la Grand Place (the bill was €52). Left happy, would happily return.

Le Cirio is an unbelievable Café on Rue de la Bourse and is without a doubt one of the most ornate cafés in Brussels. This is the most elegant of the Fin de Siècle cafés around the Bourse and in my opinion one of the best.Established in 1903'Le Cirio started off as an upscale Italian food shop but evolved into an upscale café. Housed in an elegant building with a really spacious terrace'the interior design of this café is brilliant with many original feature's throughout its elegant interior. This brilliant café has an old world charm and is one of the must go café's around the Bourse area but its a little bit more expensive than most of the cafés around this district of Brussels but is well worth visiting. As long as we've been visiting Brussels and this area we always visit Le Cirio. We visited here late in the evening and it wasn't really that busy.We took our table and ordered a Stella Artois brewery beer which were very well served and a bit more expensive than other cafés around here. A magnificent café one not to be missed in an excellent areas of Brussels and so easy to locate from Bourse bus or tram stop it's a short walk. (This is my first review of Le Cirio). Opening Hours. Monday-Sunday-10.00-00.00. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Bourse bus stop. Tram Stop..Bourse tram stop.

My wife and I were looking around for somewhere to eat when we found this restaurant. The place took me back in time to how some of the oldest and Grand Hotels and restaurants looked a few year ago. So full of character and well laid out. No air con just open windows and doors which kept cool on one of the hottest days of late July. Served very quickly by one of the waiters and drinks and food arrived in a very short time. The portions are very generous, full of flavour , fresh and well presented and great value for money. I wish we had more time in Brussels as we both would have wanted to come back for an evening meal. If ever you are in Brussels and want great food at a good price in an old fashioned restaurant then this is the place to go.

Service nice and diligent - awful food. Late lunch on the terrace. Good location, the interiors classic (check out the loo, definitely a location for a period movie. The food though was greasy and stuffy. It‘s maybe not easy to make a great Caesars salad, but it‘s not easy to get it this wrong. Even the Brussels waffle (which took about 20’ to be served was „écoeurant“. The only reason for not complaining was that you could see that the waiters were doing their best. Wondering about what happens in the kitchen.

Everytime we visit Brussels we go here for a drink. Lovely place and the waiters were always friendly. Not any more. One waiter who's side of the cafe we always try and sit because he has funny and friendly character which adds something to the experience. Told us we would have a wait but not to worry. We were approached by another waiter who asked if we were eating. After telling him it was just a drink he became very rude and waived us out. The original waiter said it's ok he will get us a table. The other waiter told him off and we had to go. Thankyou Le Cirio....

We ordered dinner: a croque monsieur for myself and roast pork for my husband. After a wait, My order arrived, but what the waiter offered to my husband was roast beef. He insisted that this was what my husband ordered, and a stand-off ensued! There were raised voices and heads started to turn! What was he supposed to do with the roast beef if my husband wouldn't even try it? He refused to bring the pork and vanished in a huff. We were gobsmacked and the next time he appeared we asked for the manager. "I am the manager," he claimed. Like hell! For reasons unknown , he finally brought the roast pork and slapped it down on the table. A recycling bin for bottles was beside our table, and to indicate his continuing ire, the waiter kept slamming bottles in while we ate. There was no apology or offer to comp the meal for the rudeness and inconvenience, and at the end of the evening I asked, "Can't we part as friends?" He snapped, "No! I am going to my 'ome now!" I suppose he showed us ugly Americans. It was a pity, because the place is overflowing with charm. We are cat lovers and were delighted that the restaurant had an enormous brown cat with a rhinestone collar who was delicately cleaning a hind leg on one of the tables. It was our last night in Brussels, and my husband was furious for an hour after we left.

We love the more than hundred years old interior of Brasserie Le Cirio and are happy it has been preserved despite renovations. With its many mirrors, glass ceiling, wood panelling, brass light fixtures and banquettes along the walls Le Cirio allows a glimpse into bygone times. Over the past years we have been here several times, mostly for coffee or drinks and not for food. We always enjoyed the busy but quiet atmosphere and the excellent service. This time we had a bite with our drink: a tuna toast which consisted of two slices of toast bread with tuna and mayonnaise, served with a side salad and small pickled onions and cornichons (mini gherkin cucumbers). The presentation wasn’t great. In fact, the toast looked terribly messy, with salad dressing all over the onions and cornichons. But it was yummy nonetheless. We will certainly come back.

We got there quite late at lunch time, directly after landing in Brusselles. The staff was really nice and attentive, and they kindly help me with my struggling French. The food was quite good and for a good price (specially in central Brussels) we lunched with mussels, fries and croquettes. They have good variety of biers and the location is fantastic. The terrace is very nice on a sunny day but the interior is beautiful. We will totally repeat if we are back in Brussels.

No trip to Brussels would be complete without a trip to Le Cirio ,one of the most ornate looking cafe bars in Brussels. Established in 1903 in a former retail store ,this cafe bar is awesome ,dark wood features throughout ,gilded features proliferate the cafe bar,an eye catching serving bar and lots of seating options spread throughout Le Cirio both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Rue De La Bourse in the shadow of the magnificent Bourse. We were here about 11pm ,cafe bar was busy ,a very pleasant member of the bar team took our order of beers ( Stella Artois beer ) , these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and accompanied with a tasty howl of peanuts ,we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great cafe bar we were in. A big fan of Stella Artois beer ,it's such a light, hoppy and very drinkable beer bursting with taste ,when served iced cold as in this cafe bar it's such a refreshing beer ,a beer style both myself and my twin brother Stephen are really fond of. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Le Cirio we had a marvellous time. Le Cirio is easy to locate along Rue De La Bourse ,in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday,10am till midnight. A really historic and famous cafe bar ,one I highly recommend you check out if you're in the area.

Most appalling service. I went to this restaurant to escape the cold and the toast was okay but the waiters were incredibly inattentive and unbothered and the older man accused me of trying to leave without paying because apparently a waiter hadn't communicated to him that I'd paid. So then he went to check that I had paid and I couldn't be bothered to wait (especially because the old man couldn't really speak English and so we couldn't properly communicate) and he stated yelling at me for trying to leave so then I went with him to the waiters who took my payment while he confirmed I paid... he confirmed it and then the old man apologised. I rejected their apology and left. They made me feel like a criminal. Do not recommend

We decided to try Cirio as it looked about as typically Belgian as a restaurant t could be - plus it was right by let of the Xmas market. It's very 'old' and the furnishing reflects that but I think that provides character! Staff were great, super busy but taking care of us. Happy to make recommendations on food and drink, the mussels were enough for all four of us, let alone the one who has ordered them! Cannelloni was delicious and the Flemish stew was a hit. No rushing even though they were busy all evening. To top it off our server did a little magic trick when we paid the bill! Lovely experience.

Other local bars were heaving with customers and belting out loud music and we just wanted a relaxed drink - this was the ideal place to take a seat and admire the internal décor. The service was non-fussy and efficient and the prices were comparative to other bars that we'd encountered in the city. It was a lovely watering hole to have a drink and a chat.

My wife and I dived in to this restaurant as it was a wet and miserable day and we were looking for somewhere to have lunch. The décor was what attracted us. It is really interesting and the waiters are dressed with their aprons and it was very busy. Getting someone’s attention was a bit of a challenge and in the end, I went looking for a waiter and grabbed them and he quickly found us a table. The menu was a bit limited but we were given the standard tourist menu but that was fine as we were only looking for a quick bite to eat. We had a couple of croque monsieurs and a drink, neither of which were anything to write home about, but it was all we needed. The key thing about this restaurant is the interior and the atmosphere which we really enjoyed especially on a damp wintery day. A great place just to chill out.

Such a shame that an impressive art nouveau diamond is let down by lazy, arrogant and unprofessional staff. We found a table only a few metres from the bar after establishing with one of the waiters that pancakes were still being served! We then waited for over 15 min watching the 'Waiters" busy doing nothing in particular. The staff behind the bar just stood there chatting and even though I raised my hand to indicate a wish to give my order and actually spend money, the bar staff just looked straight through me and carried on with their conversation! We got our coats and left without any attempt to keep us. Shame on the so-called staff - hope the management read this and act accordingly.
