Real sushi (not fake Chinese maki with mayo) at democratic prices / very good and fast ramen. Always packed, outside, ground and first level: best proof of quality. Been here 4 times.

As an avid sushi lover, this place was an extreme disappointment. The environment inside was terrible, service was subpar and the sushi was not fresh. It was so bad, that I personally couldn’t eat my food. It was so inexpensive that I didn’t care to...finish my food and wanted to leave as soon as possible. I would not recommend to anyone looking for fresh fish.More
I was by myself and I sat at the counter. It felt very Japanese. There are tables outside, inside and upstairs. You can order bento boxes, sushi, sashimi, and ramen. I tried the beef bento box and it was good. The water was a bit...expensive, but there was also decent choice of Japanese beverages. The service was good and fast.More
This place is very cozy and friendly. The service is nice and the food is delicious. It looks like they have a new team of waiters. I would definitely go back again.
We ate well, enough and it's not expensive. The only point is the waiters want you to choose your meal quickly, to eat fast and to leave the table as earlier as possible for having other costumers. So we didn't feel well welcomed. I also...didn't find the WiFi.More
Waiting for 30 minutes nobody service for food ordering. After ordering, waitress was very bad altitudes and food taste was so terrible
Not to mention about the staffs, sushi taste like the leftover ones you got in supermarkets at the end of the day but what more terrifying is the chicken ramen we ordered, the chicken itself has a strange smell and the ramen noodles are too...overcooked.More
Today, the food was good but the server was rude and cynical. Just one person with bad attitude can ruin a whole experience.
Ok, people should not expect Michelin food or service from this place (the price/quality ration is, however, very good). BUT - as many previous reviews stated: 1) Girl at the cashier is quite... impolite? Hey, you are in the city center, at least answering when...a question is asked could be nice, I am not even talking about the lacking smile on a face (which could be, of course, even nicer). 2) I am not sure how NOT accepting bancontact is even legal Nothing else to say - minus 2 stars for these 2 pointsMore
Anata is a restaurant I have been going to for a few years now. I was one of the first customers, and I have been going all these years with friends and my kids. Yes, I live in Brussels. Anyway, I have always liked the...restaurant, because the food is good, the price is fair, and the service is sufficiently good. Being someone who grew up in Asia, I have fairly high standards for Asian food. Anata meets my standards for authenticity and tastiness. Even though this is a Japanese restaurant, they have also introduced some nice Chinese and Korean dishes. They are especially generous with the quantity of the food they give. Although the decor and ambience isn’t the best of the best, what matters for me is the quality and quantity of the food, the price, and the service. Anyway, they are in a very central location in the downtown area, so its convenient to get to. They are also open earlier and longer than most restaurants I know, so it is an ideal place to go to anytime of the day and any day of the week. I recommend Anata to both tourists and longtime residents of Brussels. It is a restaurant that I plan to continue to frequent for the coming years!More
Worst experience so far in Brussels. Sushi has little taste, Tuna was too fat prepared. Worst was the payment. They do not accept bancontact (#1 payment method in Belgium) and only accept cash (why is that?) and Credit card. They also do not have a...white register, legally obliged, and use handwritten invoices. For me that rings many red lights. Very bad experience with the owner when I wasn't able to pay with a legal valid payment method. She was extremely rude. Never again.More
Popped into Anata on the way to our hotel for a takeaway - sushi rolls and dumplings. Sushi portion was generous and filling. So delicious I had to come back the next day for a proper meal - a rice dish with more sushi!!
I've been coming to Anata for many years and it's always great! The food is fantastic and the sushi is always super fresh and made in front of you. It's quite 'cosy' inside but it just makes it feel more like a home setting.
We had maki and noodles. The maki came with mayonese inside and it was not mentioned in the menu. All the I ingredients of the maki were listed except the mayonnaise. I think is unacceptable not only for people like me that don't like it...but especially in case of allergies. The noodles also were not good, the sauce had a strange taste. The woman at the cashier was not nice at all, she barely spoke to us when we asked to pay the bill.More
The service is very impolite and rude. They will show you the place where to sit, and if you want to sit somewhere else, they will just tell you no, you can sit there or you can go.... I have never had this experience before....I just left the place, don't want to spend money on those kind of people.More
