My twin brother Stephen and I were exploring around the eclectic Quartier Marolles,we ended up on Place Du Jeu De Balle were we visited several pubs and bars including Au Vieux Marche ,a great brasserie that's always a joy to visit. This brasserie looks superb,an...island style serving bar dominates the main room, fantastic decor and furnishings and lots of seating options spread throughout this brasserie both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Place Du Jeu De Balle. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon ,as we had been drinking beer all day we decided to have a wine each ,this turned into two wines each as the wine both red and white was absolutely delicious ,it was just so good being in such a great brasserie enjoying quality wines. We really enjoyed our wines in here before we moved on and as on every previous visit to here we had a great time. Au Vieux Marche is easy to locate on Place Du Rue De Balle ,home to the famous flea market and teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. Opening hours are; Monday ,closed. Tuesday to Sunday,6am till 11pm. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

Au Vieux Marché on Pl.Du Jeu De Balle is a superb and upmarket brasserie that offers a superb food and drinks range and is one of several café/bars and pubs we visited in the Marolles area of Brussels. This superb brasserie has a upmarket look...and feel with many interesting fixtures and features throughout the whole interior and excellent seating option's and an excellent outside seating area. We had visited many cafés and bars in this area and this was the most elaborate. With nice decor and furnishings and a fantastic range of drinks. When we visited we had an excellent white and red wine that were well served and priced. This is a superb brasserie and easy to find from Vossenplein bus stop it's a short walk. (This is my first review of Au Vieux Marché). Opening Hours. Monday-Closed. Tuesday-Sunday-06.00-23.00. Public Transport. Bus Stop. Vossenplein bus stop.More

I've been to this restaurant a few times now and it's always been excellent. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is absolutely brilliant - you will almost certainly be pleasantly surprised. It's extremely good value as well. The menu is...huge and ranges from smaller snacks to full big meals, there are also good vegetarian options (hard to find in Brussels), and they have all the Belgian classics plus a few extra interesting things. They also don't mind if you just have a coffee or beer which is handy for the market. The service has always been very pleasant whenever I've gone. It's probably my favourite restaurant within 5-10 minutes walk of Gare Midi (the ones opposite the station are quite bad) and it's also really convenient for the cool flea market. It's mostly locals eating in here but they also do their best to speak English too which is nice.More

We only came for drinks after visiting nearby flea market. We found the place comfortably relaxing and staff were friendly. Recommended.

We were happy to find this place at New Years Eve afternoon because everything was closed. The food is good and not that expensive for what you get. The staff was a little bit overwhelmed so it took some time til we got our drinks...and food. Cosy place.More

We ordered 3 panini chaud were one where supposed to be vegetarian and one pasta. After 40 minutes we get our 3 paninis and the pasta is left at the bar. Asked for the pasta and they had no clue where it were. Angry staff...and just a hectic enviorment. The food was tasteless. It's a no go.More

This was the best breakfast I had in Brussels! It came with so many things (coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt with bananas and granola, big basket of bread with different spreads and bacon and eggs) and at a great price! Our waitress was extremely...sweet and attentive. They also had live music playing while we were there (Sunday brunch) which was great. Also, the chef came out to greet us and to make sure we enjoyed the food which was such a sweet thing to do! Additionally, it is right next to the Marolles Flea Market so you can walk around and browse all the stuff after brunch. HIGHLY recommend!More

Spent three days in Brussels with work staying a few minutes walk from this bistro. Had every breakfast and evening meal there. The staff were always friendly and the food was tasty and well priced. Lots of local customers and with the big windows it...was just pleasant to watch the world go by with some local beer and decent wifi. I wish more premises would have the same standards of service, food and atmosphere as this place. Well done to all the staff and the owners.More

My twin brother Stephen and I were bar and pub hopping in the vibrant Quartier Marolles district and in particular in the great square Place Du Jeu De Balle which is the square were the Marche Aux Puces Des Marolles which is the famous flea...market is held when we decided to drop into here for a quick beer. This cafe has a great look, nice decor and furnishings including cool lighting and a really nice layout to the bar area,we were here on a Friday afternoon and this place was really starting to get busy with a great atmosphere,we got a Maes beer each, these were served in tip top condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular cafe. I really enjoy Maes beer,it's such a light and hoppy beer and very refreshing indeed. On this visit I cannot comment on the meals as we were only here for some beers but I must say that the meals leaving the kitchen looked and smelt delicious and on our next visit to here we are most certainly going to try out their meal menu. We really enjoyed our beers in this friendly locals cafe before we moved on and for a first time visit we were very impressed with the great cafe bar. Au Vieux Marche is really easy to locate on Place Du Jeu De Balle in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. A great cafe and well worth checking out.More
