First time at this place and it’s excellent. Great location in the heart of Grand Place. Moules Mariniere was amazing and the beer is great too. I was served by Antonio and Ryan who gave great service and also some tips on things to see...in Brussels for my short trip. Will definitely come back next time i am in Brussels.More

Poor service and poor quality drinks is all you’ll get from here. We waited 25 minutes to be served after been given a menu. A further 20 minutes for them to deliver the drinks, and what we got was awful. The Aperol Spritz is was...flat and was clearly just a shot of aperol and soda water…for €10!! Not a splash of prosecco in sight. Avoid this place, just take a picture on the square and move on.More

Staff is really disrespectful and slow. Wait at least 15min to have the bill. It’s also really expensive for the quality. I don’t recommend at all.

We loved this restaurant The service was friendly and attentive, we were having lunch outside and it started to rain and they quickly moved us inside and next to the fireplace. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable for being in the middle...of the square.More

We visited La Chaloupe d'or restaurant on a Friday evening just after arriving to Brussels. The location was just superb. Service was fine. We had fish and chips and chocolate mousse. It was a good experience. Beers were also fine!

I have no complaint at all for the food, it was very good, but the experience itself in that restaurant is just awful. I have never see such rude waitresses with clients. No smile, no attention at all (you have to call them and then...they make you wait even more), plates are nearly banged on your table and no question to check if you liked the dish or even if you need anything more. They obviously don't like their job. I am from Brussels and French speaking but I wonder who they act with tourists ... First, we had to wait 20 minutes to get our drinks (while other customers were getting theirs and 1 waitress came to ask what we were waiting for!) Then finally it arrived and she said they had a technical issue (with Internet ) what's the link with the drinks, no idea ...) While we were eating, we heard that in fact they were not able to take cards anymore for payment, big problem for us as we didn't have cash but towards the end of our meal 1 machine seemed to be working. We asked for the bill and again a very long wait ... 15 minutes later, the waitress comes and wants to take my credit card (she had no machine in hands) so I said that I was coming with her if the card had to be swiped inside, mentioning that my credit card had been copied in the past (in another country) in a restaurant so therefore I never give my card away anymore. Then instead of gently mentioning that her colleague was behind me with the machine (I had not seen her), she starts saying out loud that they don't do that there and her colleagues joins the conversation to say that they are not thieves. I never told them that they would copy the card nor that they were thieves, I just explained why I would not give my credit card away. Then she just took the payless payment and they both left without listening to what I was telling them. We will not go there again. The 2 waitresses who were there should get some training on how to deal politely with clients.More

Rude staff, moved tables from outside to inside and it was obvious from staff reaction this wasn’t welcomed. Fish meal was served to one of our family of four cold and pale. Meal was replaced eventually after 3 other members of staff taste checked it....By this time rest of group had finished. Staff apologised once and still charged full price for the meal. Doesn’t do alot for the reputation of grand place eateries.More

We were in this restaurant because of the position, but the experience wasnt good at all!!! Firstly, we ordered a dish of mussels and it was as if there was some sand in them... completely unpleasant... Secondly, the service was too slow for such a...restaurant. And last but not least, sad atmosphere, tiny tables and very very dirty toilets !More

After visiting the Brancusi exhibition at Palais des Beaux-Arts (BOZAR) we decided to have a bite at La Caloupe d’Or. As all the tables on the ground floor were taken, we ascended the stairs. A waitress came after us and asked, in a none too...friendly way, if we had been ‘sent upstairs’, which made us feel like caught out school kids. Fortunately a friendly waiter coming from upstairs told her it was ok. The upstairs room was empty when we arrived , but, on a Sunday, it filled up very quickly. We ordered pancakes and coffee. The coffee came quickly. The pancakes, two small crepe-Suzette-like folded pancakes, however, arrived more than a quarter of an hour later. Stone-cold. At 18 euros, one is entitled to expect better. Service was indifferent. But we had a table facing Grand Place and enjoyed the view.More

I stopped at this restaurant at the end of August to try a typical Belgian dish, the Lapin a la Kriek, i.e. rabbit in beer and cherry sauce. The rabbit was a little short on meat and the sauce short on actual sauce, but the...potato croquettes were excellent. Best of all though was the view. During good weather you can sit outside on the patio in the Grand Place, and my table faced the majestic Hotel de Ville. You can forgive any imperfection in the food when facing such a glorious sight. The service was very quick and cordial, and the price was decent considering the location. I would definitely recommend the place on a warm, sunny day.More

We had been searching Brussels for a waffles place and finally found what we thought we were looking for. We ended up needing to get a "full meal" first which, I have to admit, was rather nice in the form of Flemish beef with a...salad and fries. The waffles were next but even though they looked the part, they were crisp like dried toast. Maybe that's the way real Belgian waffles are made, as I'm used to those made in other countries which are softer. Still, we ate them and they were ok but the disappointment remained. Staff were ok, albeit not as warm as they could've been and our overall feeling towards the place was average.More

Walked in and enjoyed the decor of the place, was greeted in English, sat by the window to enjoy the grand plaza. They have menus in different languages so it makes it easier to know what you are ordering. The food was great ordered the...muscles with beer. The only downside was the service I was somewhat disappointed, my waitress just took my order dropped off my coverts and then my food never once stopped by to ask how was I doing, the reason I point this out the table next to me she stopped by several times. I understand that in some countries they don’t bother you when you are eating but if she didn’t stop by the other table I wouldn’t have noticed it. The price for the muscles are pretty similar from what I walking around.More
