Such a heart warming welcome and service. What a meal! I only regret I have not visited this restaurant before. They focus on the essential - fresh fish, good food and wine. Mashed potatoes are to die for. It is among the two best restaurant...experiences in Brussels during the last 3,5 years. Have now booked a table for next weekend to have some more ”cru maatjes” before the season is over.More

Great mussels, Plump, juicy and fresh. Probably the best I’ve had in Brussels, and I have had a lot. Apparently it was the last day of the mussel season....gutted. Will have to go back next season. Service is swift and Gallic. Don’t expected to be...fauned. It does food wellMore

I had dinner in this place with a group of friends. First of all, we had a reservation at 8 o'clock but we had to wait 40 minutes to be sit. Moving to the meal, given the special theme of the night we could pick...between two alternatives: krauts with various types of meat and a tartare. We tried both and they were fine. We got then some desserts and they were good. To conclude we got some spirits. At this point we got the surprise: the bill. During the whole night we were never shown a price, so we acknowledged the individual costs of the dishes at this moment. Forty euros per person, paying nine euros for the spirits and the same for the desserts, with the main plates being over 20 euros. Not a single cent was discounted for the time we had to wait: actually, we didn't even receive any excuses at all. Moreover, our waiter was quite rude and didn't try to help us out at all. Leaving the restaurant we felt very disappointed.More

Good food but this place is not as welcoming to those they are unfamiliar with like foreigners. They do their thing, they do it well. Good food and ok service. Its a classic but that also means that they don’t try to be something they...are not.More

We were in Belgium for 8 nights. Some dinners were memorable, some I'd have to think harder to recall, but this was our favorite. It was a small cozy place with outstanding food and service along with some unique local brews. Also in a very...pretty part of town. If I was back in Brussels again, I'd go here again in a heartbeat - just perfect.More

Had a nice meal there, dining outside on the heated terrace. The staff was very knowledgeable and efficient. The food was quite high-quality, including the steak I shared with my wife.

Referred to by hotel for real Belgium food. For starters the lady was not very welcoming nor friendly - said they were full and not really bothered to see that there were open tables outside. Safed by a gentleman who was very kind. My husband...really wanted to have the mussels which he did and he was very happy. I ordered the steak (28€), which was the most disgusting sinewy piece of meat I ever came across. Left half of the piece of meat, which I also ordered medium/rare which was more raw. It was not only sinewy but also really tasteless. Really a let down. The 3rd poor meal in Europe on our 5 week holiday. Not value for money at all.More

This might have been my second visit to this lovely restaurant at a nice location. The food was tasty, and the service superb. The fixed price menu was actually an excellent deal. I would gladly come back!

Chez Jacques is a nice restaurant near Brussels city centre. The place provides a nice atmosphere and serves good food with relatively decent prices. A three course menu was 28 euros, which is not too bad of excellent fish food. The place is a bit...loudy if it is occupied by larger groups. Service in kind and fast enough.More

This restaurant really seemed like the small, cute place frequented by locals we were looking for. I had fish and my friend had steak, both delicious (though my friend had to send his steak back to make it more well done -- they politely obliged...and the well-done steak was still tender, which not every restaurant has done), Staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back.More

The service and atmosphere were great. The steak dinner was reasonably good, could have been a little more tender. My spouse had the meatballs and didn't care for the sauce. Found better quality in the neighborhood for the same price.

Arrived and sat outside on a very warm Evening -the young man serving was not the best from the start ,however he was being watched by a more senior woman - the drinks arrived and the meal followed shortly after - steak - it was...as the French and Europeans cook steak rare but it was also tough - and hard to eat - the chips were the best part of the meal and the menu should really these days be presented in English as well as French I had heard good things about this place -value ,quality etc but I have to say I was disappointedMore

Went for dinner last night with my spouse and our 9- and 12-year-old children. There was no English menu but the waiter and waitress we had were happy to help translate the many tasty French items on offer. I had fillets of sole with a...nice salad and fries and the kids had hamburgers a d fries. Local beers were great and they have French wines. It’s cozy and woody inside with a terrace for warmer evenings. Looks out on Saint Catherine square, which is surrounded by restaurants. Really great area.More

Went in a group, everyone was very happy with place. I remember it from when I went a few times at least 20 years ago, maybe my expectations were higher, but the waitress was adorably friendly (always a good sign in my estimation), prices decent,...food good. I had an onion soup and sole. Wine borderline...More
