La Mezzanina is located in the center of waterloo, at 5 minutes by walk of the cinema, the Wellington.
This is a familial restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. It is generally crowded in the evening so it is better to book in advance.
The menu proposes classical Italian food. I took the scampis frittis and then the rigatoni al Arrabiata. Both were really tasty. The rigatoni were especially excellent ! Spicy as it must be...
We have paid in total 65€ for two people, starters, main dishes and drinks together so very reasonable price.

We had a great culinary experience in this tiny restaurant tonight! All dishes were skillfully cooked from high quality ingredients. Insalata caprese had lovely buffalo mozzarella, the prawn croquette was tasty and creamy on the inside, the veal dishes were nice and tender and the home-made desserts were not too sweet and in good portions. If you enjoy authentic, honest Italian food, this place is worth a visit. Grazie mille for a wonderful evening!

Although I live in Waterloo, I have never been to that place. There are simply too many restaurants in the Waterloo Church area. We choose to have the 3 course menu for Euro 29.- (see picture). It was really good value for money. Service was friendly and efficient! A place to remember for a future dinner with other friends.

I confess, I made a mistake; I got a pizza, instead I should have tried anything else, like the pasta dishes or something different. The thing is that when you do not a place, it's difficult to trust the ingredients, above all fish or sea food. Don't get me wrong, the pizza was ok, but is was cooked in an electrical oven, therefore, you know the texture is not going to be that special. The pasta dishes I saw eaten by the other clients were instead more inviting. The Restaurant is rather small with little place to move around. We went there on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was fully packed, better book above during a weekend. We were served almost immediately, which was nice. Communication was a bit odd, we managed with a mix of English and pointing the menu, apparently the only language spoken was French

had a lovely meal here and a nice bottle of wine. Generous helping of past and sauce so could only manage the 1 course. 60 euros was very good value. Lovely service too from the couple who manage the restaurant.

Had an evening meal with the family, the place was busy and service was slow, but the personnel were very welcoming and friendly. We're pretty sure our daughter's spaghetti bolognese was frozen and reheated ( a lot of water in the sauce ), the tagliata was chewy and the topings on the pizzas were rather bland. To top it of the final bill was quite expensive even without having ordered any alcohol.

I usually don't take pasta in restaurants, unless I see something I would'n't do myself at home.
And at la mezzanine, I did take pasta and was really delighted.
Good prosecco also.
Pizzas did also look appetizing but I didnt't try.

Came on a Thursday night, early doors and it already quite full - obvious to see why.
€13 for 50cc of house red, and about €18-20 for the fab prawn salad and steak.
They looked after us well, down a back street but worth finding.

Terrific in many ways. The service is great and they have accommodated us a couple of times without a reservation. Very welcoming place. The food is of the best Italian in Waterloo. The carbonara is great but try the trio of pastas.

This restaurant has a proper pizza oven and makes really authentic pizza. It has all the standard pizza offering that you see in most pizza restaurants. The zabaglione was pretty good too! I ordered a cappuccino, which was made with with very good coffee but cream instead of frothy milk (which I would have preferred). I've never seen such a good selection of chocolates and biscuits with a cup of coffee. The decor is fairly spartan and the service friendly. The prices very reasonable. I would happily go to this restaurant again.

This cozy italian restaurant is located in the city centre of Waterloo.
It was a simple but well served meal.
The pizza was great and the fresh homemade pasta hwas delicious. I tasted the Lasagne Maison and the Tortellini Maison, both perfectly served. Even the home red wine was good.
The portions were averege and the the waiter is very attentive. He can also speak spanish.

Revisited this family run Pizzeria for the first time in 10 years, and what a pleasure!! The same couple (husband and wife) are still running the place.
When arriving at the table we received a plate with some black olives, a small square of olive bread and a tiny bread/ham swirl. Excellent taste.
The pizza was still very good, and the spicy oil has got that bite to it.
The restaurant comes highly recommended should you visit Waterloo and fancy a great Italian pizza

This is one place I’ve tried to keep a secret since it gets more difficult each year to show up and hope to get a table. I’m retiring and leaving Belgium after 30 years, so I can slowly release some of my favorite places.
Hidden away in a small pedestrian alley, you have to know it’s there. And sadly, the secret is no more as many have found it. We usually need to call for a reservation now. A smallish place with a ground floor and an open mezzanine. Cozy place with tables close, but not too close. Lively, but not to the point it’s too lively.
A great cheap and cheerful Italian place. Wonderful on a Friday night after a work week. Or when it’s my turn to cook at home. Pizzas are good (despite an electric oven rather than wood fire), as well as escalope Milanese, mixed pasta and pasta vongole (with fresh clams, no canned clams). There are numerous other items, but we seem to stay with these. Very reasonably priced.
Although the food is good, the staff seem to make the enjoyable dining experience. Very hard working group (very!), dashing here and there, covering for one another and making sure you have a good experience. Yet remaining a happy bunch. If there is ever a problem, it’s immediately their problem and they fix it right away. I suppose that we have gone there so often we know them and are on the edge of becoming family, so we are always warmly treated, but they seem to be that way with everyone else.
Good food, casual environment in which to relax, great staff. I never tire of going there. One of my favorites.
