I've travelled several times to Asia myself so I came here with high expectations given the rather positive reviews on Tripadvisor. I ordered the large Pho Bo as a main dish.
For those not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine: Pho is a classic Vietnamese dish consisting...of a broth, noodles and a cheap cut of meat (the Pho Bo version is with beef). Pho is considered to be street food in Vietnam and over there it's so popular because everyone can afford it. Vietnamese eat Pho like Belgians would eat fries on the go. Although the Pho surely ain't bad here it is way overpriced at € 18 for a dish of which the main ingredients are not that expensive (noodles, broth, herbs and some meat). At Bun there are also too much sliced herbs on top, bringing the taste out of balance.
So, it's clear to me at Bun you mostly pay for the 'hip' concept and not so much for what's in your plate: a quite average Pho of which the 'large' version ain't exactly that large to justify the price. Asking another € 4.50 for Coconut Water out of a carton bringing the bill upto € 22,50 is simply far too expensive for what you get in your plate. You won't see many Vietnamese clients over here because they know the price is way to much.
Service on the other hand was quite friendly and quick. I can imagine the owners are happy because they are smiling all the way to the bank serving Pho at these prices.More
