Surprise find in Antwerp centre

With the mixed reviews and reasonable prices for the area, we decided to try Jeanty’s as we passed by looking for dinner. Many places were closed today as it was Mothers Day and being so close to the main square meant that it was busy and also a high chance of getting ripped off. We were pleasantly surprised, the manager was very welcoming and attentive, we decided to sit inside as the pavement seating area mainly were for couples. There was no English menu but don’t let that put you off if you have google translate and use the Lens option. The mussels were large, tasty and we choose the white wine and Provençal variety, even when we asked for a top up of fries, it was no problem, other mains we tried were Steak Tartar, Shrimp pasta, Beef stew, Cauliflower soup, all were excellent and well presented, I can also understand some of the mixed comments about service as the younger staff were inexperienced and English was not great, however the Manager was excellent and led the team well and her multitasking abilities were amazing. Would definitely recommend Jeantys’

Lovely food , a bit slow tho!

We visited Jeanty's because we were looking for a relaxed place with a good range of options. We very much enjoyed our Sunday afternoon over croquettes, lamb, sea bass , a couple of beers and some wine. The food was excellent and the service pleasant and efficient when engaged. Our only issue was with the wait for our main courses, yes, we were looking for relaxed, but this was too long. It was not overly busy, so goodness knows what would have happened if it had been busy - furthermore the waitress seemed to be kept out of sight by their manager - who seemed to think that talking to her was more important than checking-in on whether customers needed anything. Fix the service culture and this place would be 5 star...

At Jeanty's you eat well, but without any real surprises or special (side) dishes. Service is young but attentive. However, it turned out to be quite complicated to order a wine other than the house wine. There is no wine list, but we did see bottles of wine on other tables instead of the carafes in which the house wine is served. Missed opportunity.

Two great meals

We visited Jeanty's on New Years Eve and had a great leisurely lunch. The starters were excellent to be followed by sea bass and cod finished by off with some mouth watering deserts. I can definitely recommend the trio of chocolate mousse. Wine was reasonably priced and the service was very good. It was clear that everything was cooked to order so forget fast food sit back and enjoy. On New Year's Day after a good walk we finished near to the cathedral and were delighted to find the restaurant was open. We went in for lunch and had equally good food. I must single out their cooking of my steak, when so many UK restaurants seem incapable of cooking a medium rare steak the chef at Jeanty's got it spot on. Service was again excellent even though the staff had worked until very late on New Year's Eve.

Worst experience with staff

The worst experience ever and we didn’t even stay to eat because of the extreme rudeness of one young female staff. Our limit was after we asked for some help with the menu (they had no English menu), she was rude and quickly told us to use technology to translate and walked away. We in turn got up and left the restaurant. I still can’t believe this happened.

Slow service and high prices

The combination of high prices with slow service was not right for me. More so, as there were under ten guests, including myself, and I still had to wait long. Food tasted good though, so if you've got the time and the money you may like this place.

Terrible, never experienced anything like this before, so much disinterest and the food was over the top so expensive. It was completely out of proportion to quality and price. We order a 42 euro meat menu and a stew with fries: we were the only customers. It was a very long wait. stew meat ok. The centrally located restaurant offers seating in a modern dining room as well as outside. The service was friendly, the prices ambitious. The menu was quite decent, the ossobuco and the fish stew were good. The wine selection in bottles was OK, but in glasses it was very modest.

Small terrace, comfortable room. Discreet, professional and very kind service. The menu is not translated into French but it is easy to do with the mobile phone. Very good typical dishes: fish stew, endives with ham, carbonnade.

We have twice chosen the mussel menu with carafe of white wine. Amuse was brought along with the wine in a very friendly way. On the soup (with fresh rolls) was nothing negative to remark. Mussels were exquisite. Dessert from the chef with coffee was a delicious ending. Service is as it should be; young dynamic ladies who are very attentive and friendly! That's right!

We stayed opposite this place, it's very clean and well maintained, the staff were all very helpful and the service was quick, though they were very quite that night. The food was of a very good standard and we both enjoyed the four course asparagus menu, yes, it was a lot of asparagus and we were grateful that there was no asparagus in the yummy deserts!

A Great Find In The Centre

Having arrived at a nearby restaurant and being told that we'd have to wait in line even though we'd booked a table, my wife and I decided not to wait and we stumbled on nearby Jeanty's, and were delighted with the service and the food, in fact it was the best meal we ate during our four day stay in Antwerp. We both ate the sea bass that was cooked perfectly and when it was time to leave, we were the last couple in the restaurant but the staff didn't try to get us to go, in fact they encouraged us to stat saying they still had a lot of preparation for the next day. Great atmosphere, lovely food and friendly staff at a reasonable price, what more could anyone want!

Great menu, the price was not above average on the area.Had the cheese croquettes and mussels tonight; the food was excellent and the waiters were professional and polite. Very courteous & helpful. I'd definitely recommend it!

Excellent Lunch

After stumbling across this restaurant as we were looking for somewhere for lunch, we decided to give it a go. We sat outside in the sunshine and all chose the three course set lunch menu. It was actually 4 courses as there was a small chef’s starter too! The food was excellent; we started with soup, followed by steak and finished with chocolate mousse another delicious creamy dessert. The service was very good too. Great value for money and definitely worth a visit.
