My first time visit, after my husband had been here several times. It’s one of the best Indian Restaurants so far where I have eaten in The Netherlands. It’s a small family business and the food tasts as home made Indian food. The staff is...friendly and helpful. Don’t expect a fancy restaurant, it’s a small cozy restaurant and the foid is just amazing! Will definitely come back!More
I love Indian cuisine and this is definitely among the best Indian restaurants in Den Haag! Excellent quality, really nice atmosphere and lovely and kind staff. I will definitely come back and suggest it to other friends.
I have been returning to the Taj Mahal for 5 years now and I keep coming back. I appreciate its excellent quality of food and very quiet and cosy atmosphere. Many of its dishes are very tasty and the restaurant is situated in a beautiful...area to walk around in the Hague. I think the place is particularly well suited for couples. I can recommend the chikken tikka, peshwari nan and other nans, lamb dhansak, kormas, biryani. The kitchen also can make some nice adjustments to certain dishes if you like it extra spicy. Service is friendly. Overall this is one of my favorite place's in the Hague that I am always happy to share with visitors who also seem to appreciate it.More
Looking at the reviews this restaurant may have been good before start of 2019, however we had a nasty surprise. Group of 5, we ordered starters to share - that seemed to be the cue for the owners to charge 3 full price starters and...then serve 3 cut size portions that fitted on one small serving dish. 2 pakoras, 2 onion bahje and mixed veg all full price, but approx. one third portions. Same deal with the rice and the nan breads were one half nan each - cheapos! The main dishes were ok, but for a total bill of EUR 160 I'd advise you to get better quality and certainly better portions elsewhere in den Haag. Wat jammer zeg!More
My overall experience was really negative. SERVICE: The waiter was completely incompetent, clumsy and uncommunicative. We came in, he allocated us to a table which he had to clear for us. He removed the table cloth and underneath there was a white table cloth which...was full of curry stains and which he never replaced. Most Indian restaurants offer some papadums with sauces in the beginning. They give you nothing here. Also the waiter didn’t provide us with napkins. He stepped in twice and interrupted our discussion to ask if we want ice cream, which was out of nowhere and after he cleared our table he brought us the bill without us having requested it. I think this is really rood especially given that we paid at least 25 euros each. Overall, the service was tremendously poor and unprofessional (e.g. the waiter came into contact with food items while serving). Food was served in due time, no long wait! FOOD: starters were very expensive; we took the chicken tikka which was delicious but the samosa came with no accompaniment, very dry and it was frozen, definitely not fresh. Yet too expensive relative to the amount offered. Mains were average in quality. The madras curry was very oily and not spicy enough. The lamb was not very tasty either. Korma was OK but not amazing. I am really sorry to say that the kheema naan was not well baked, those parts that contained no meat on the edges were raw dough. Garlic naan was better. The rice was tasty. ENVIRONMENT: friendly. No music and gets a little noisy. The whole atmosphere only slightly gives you an Indian vibe. Toilets clean, but not very welcoming atmosphere, no welcoming treat or sufi candies at the end. As a lover of Indian food, I wouldn’t really recommend this place unless serious changes are made. The lady seemed to be more considerate there. Still I’d say the ratings are misleading.More
Prices are very high for average food. Long waiting, and low motivated staff. Food was nothing special, but the prices topnotch.
We enjoyed a variety of authentic Indian dishes after a day walking around The Hague, including the Peace Palace and Buitenhof. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and our server was very attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very good - super lamb dansak, good Sauvignon Blanc, good bread and good lassee. Good price and great location.
Great food and wonderful service. We definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and decently priced food.
Very good food, spiced as it should...and very friendly staff. We took our time and discussed also with the chef
The meals were not realy as i expected, before the food was good, not excelent but do able. My last dinner was realy not good , the taste was very average and nothing special as most people say it is. Maybe a bad day but...i wont go back here.More
The lamb curry was ok. The peswari naan had somekind of orange stuff inside that tasted ok, but I did not see one raisin or nut. The garlic naan tasted like something you buy at a supermarket. My prawncurry was by far the worst dish...I have ever been served at an Indian restaurant. The prawns were like chewing gum and the sauce had the color of custard pudding. With NO other ingredients. I only had to pay half of my dish, but still, for €50 one should be able to get a decent meal. It was not !More
Informal indian restaurant with fine food, everything fresh and good service! Curry, Tandoori style food at its very best!! We enjoyed the warm romantic authentic atmosphere it breathes throughout. From starters till desert. We will come back for sure next time thank you!
