Stopped here for a drink, waited and waited, slow service all round. Gave up and moved on to the main square where attention and service at the bars and cafes seems far better.

I was back in Delft and of course back at a seat in De Waag. Last time I was here in June I listened to a live band, reveled with the dancers in the streets and enjoyed their tomato soup. This time Sunday afternoon was quiet and I ordered, the smoked duck breast, one of the starters as a mid-day... More

As the whether was great we ate out under one of the umbrella's but the inside looked very nice and welcoming. We had some beers, good choice and eyed out the fix menu which we saw was delicious, but a lot to finish, so went for a main course only: two types of burgers nicely cooked to order with a... More

Had lunch with my parents while visiting the lovely town of Delft. Had two ham & cheese sandwiches (very bready and lacking flavor), a portion of fries (over-cooked) and a salad (average at best). The location is lovely sitting on the edge of the square but the food was poor. Given the touristy location perhaps this is no surprise. The... More

The tepas-like small dishes look tempting, but put your trust in the chef for the surprise menu. We choose two fish courses and one meat and we were delighted with the choice of fresh in season ingredients. The hake was magnificent and the cod very fresh. But save room for an excellent cheeseboard, there are some real surprises. After a... More

I met an old colleague here for drinks and a light dinner. The old building is beautiful. First we sat outside for some drinks. There are quite some wines served by the glass to choose from. For dinner, we had a salad. These can be ordered in two sizes and are reasonably priced. Well-filled, fresh. But just stop serving the... More

We walked into this restaurant on a rainy day in Delft. The food here is different to your usual tourist menu which can be boring. For lunch I ordered from the list of luxury sandwiches. I chose one with duck breast and duck leg, (the leg was shredded). This was absolutely the best lunch I've had for a long time.... More

The Proeverij is the fine-dining part of de Waag. It is on the second floor of the old rustic building in the heart of Delft, close to the many canals. (The brasserie-style Stadscafe is on the ground floor.) You can choose a surprise menu with 3-5 courses or go for a-la-carte. We had the 4 course surprise menu and were... More

I had the duck sandwich which came on a very nice multigrain roll. J had the ham & cheese grilled sandwich which she really enjoyed. We were only in Delft for lunch, but definitely would have gone back for dinner.
