This a deceptively large bar with different rooms to spread out in. It was very busy on the afternoon we were there, but still the level of service was excellent. The staff are well on top of what they are doing and very efficient. There...is a very good range of drinks of all sorts as well as one of the best ranges of low and non-alcoholic beers I've seen anywhere. As well as being popular for drinks it was very busy for food. The patrons seemed like a good mix of people: ages, gender and casual passers by and people set to remain for a while. And they have cats, which is something I like a great deal. I think it adds to the charm of an establishment.More

Jozef is a lovely place to have a drink or dinner. I ordered the 'eendenbout' (Duck Leg Confit) with gravy of red wine. It was quite busy when we ordered and therefore we didn't feel too upset about waiting for 40 minutes. The duck itself...was great but the sauce -which was all over the dish- was extremely salty (not at all seeming like gravy of red wine?). I am not at all sensitive towards salty food as I eat quite salty myself, but I honestly never had such a salty dish in a restaurant before! Being very hungry, I didn't bother sending it back (I never send things back, but I would have sent this back if I was up for waiting longer for my dinner and watching the rest of my table enjoy their food; which was great btw). Perhaps a bit of bad luck in terms of my menu choice. I informed the waiter and I guess this is the part that I am especially dissapointed about: they seemingly didnt do anything with it. A good gesture would have been to offer a coffee/tea or at least let me know they had informed the kitchen, given some kind of excuse? Anyway, still recommend the restaurant just don't order the Duck Leg Confit (or ask for the sauce to be seperate!).More

The place is fun for drinks with some food. Try the pumpkin soup it is delicious and the carpaccio both are very good.

I usually enjoy diner at Jozef prior to going to the movies next door (Springhaver). This last Friday, I changed my routine and met a friend there, this time for breakfast. The menu is not as extended as the one of next door Bagel and...Beans but I really would recommend the delicious yoghurt and homemade granola. The coffee is excellent as well. Last but not least, weather permitting, try to get a table outside, in order to catch the morning ambience on the Mariaplaats.More

We had dinner with 4 friends, we enjoyed the nice and cosy atmosphere in the city centre of Utrecht. We indicated that we had to catch a train and were timely served, which we appreciated. We could hardly finish our plates, the dinner-salad and simple...meal had a quantity was largely sufficient. We recommend this restaurant and would come back againMore

I went to this café with two other friends who both ordered something and was told that I cannot stay unless I order something as well. I was not allowed to stay and had to walk around the block a couple of times until my...two friends were finished. I then asked a Dutch girl if this is a common thing here. Even she was confused and said that’s unusual. Don’t recommend this place at all, food is decent though.More

Do not ever visit this restaurant, their staff is EXTREMELY RUDE !!! Even if you are a customer who has 1. consumed and 2. already paid your bill, the staff force you to order more items to be able to stay inside the restaurant. I...visited to have a snack and a drink and after some time the male blond server came and told me in the rudest possible way that I couldn’t stay inside if I didn’t order more items. He put me out of the restaurant even though the place was half empty and it was very raining outside. (See photos). Even the only two ladies who were next to me decided to pay and leave the place, losing not only 1 but 3 clients at the same time due to his rudeness. This has never happened to me, even in the most visited european capitals. Additionally, the WiFi never worked, i needed to share internet connection from my phone to my laptop to send some emails. This is the perfect place to go if you want some rude staff to ruin a very nice and chill first visit to Utrecht.More

Jozef is a big venue on the Mariaplaats catering for all your needs starting from a decent breakfast all the way to a beersoaked dance evening. It has a very pleasant faux seventies atmosphere, up to and including a stack of historic taperecorders on the...DJ tower. The house cat adds to the homey feeling during lunch and breakfast. Service very friendly and fast!More

Josef is a great place to visit for lunch or for a beer when exploring Utrecht. The service was good and the menus has a nice selection of meals, some typically Dutch.

Came here for a beer, but stayed quite a while. Excellent place for an after work drink. We didn't have any food, but the beers from tap did the job. Quite a lot of young people.
