We went there for a burger based on the good reviews. Buns and ingredients of the burgers were good, but they use the « Dutch seasoned hamburger » instead of the plain ground beef. That changes all. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are efficient and friendly. It has multiple screens inside for those wanting to watch any sport and a variety of beers and wine to try. Mr H and I tried the food. I had chicken...sate and Mr H the chicken burger. My sate was just ok, I found the sauce very thick and the chicken was a little over done, however the chips were good. Mr H said his burger was also just ok. Just pub grub not fancy fare! Enough to keep the hunger at bay. But we found the staff excellent and a lovely atmosphere.More

When you like to sit on a friendly back yard terrace just next to the canal and the middle aged highest church tower also called Long John then visit this pub.

Visited for a quick lunch Burgers were delicious particularly the Tex burger and cheese and bacon. Were able to provide a gluten free bun altho not sure this is always the case. Hot dog came with Avocado and salad. Very good. Inside and outside seating...Exceptionally well priced.More

Excellent pub with good pub food and various beers - staff very good and seating inside and out. One of the few places for breakfast in the square.

Convenient and central...right under the tower...had the World Cup playing but we were able to acquire drinks and food. The wait staff are often busy so either order at the bar or actively catch someone. The wait time was not long and the burgers are...excellent; I also enjoyed my small fish-n-chips. Don't forget to check for seats in the biergarten on the canal out back!More
This is a nice bar in town. Good tap beer and bottles. Cheese burger and tex mex are delicious. There is also a spot if you like playing darts.
This place got: - great views of the Amersfoort tower - great outdoor seating - good beer selection - beautiful view of the town square - nice waiting staff - good traditional borrel food - watching of the most important soccer matches When eating here...for the meal of the day though, I was disappointed by the quality/price. So I would recommend to go eat at one of the many restaurants in the neigborhood and come here for drinks and fingerfood.More
Nicely situated with a rear back garden and a canal . A lot of restaurants in the street, but try the menu in the pub. Even the toasted sandwich was made of special bread. The beer is excellent.
We were staying at the Lange Jan Hotel and thus had breakfast in the pub plus a few drinks here and there. Great atmosphere in a stunning location. From the back "sun room" the tower of Amersfoort appears right overhead... pretty awesome.
Stayed here as the pub is also an hotel. The star rating is 1 star !!! Which is under rated it should be at least a 3 star. The location is very central in Amersfoort. Within 1 minute your in the main shopping areas. The...rooms are very clean, spacious and quiet. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have tv with numerous channels. Food menu is short but adequate for sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and a few more substantive meals (steak, chicken). The breakfast is typical Dutch but plenty to choose from. We had bacon, scrambled eggs, hams, cereal. Toast, Danish and fruit juices were available too. The bar has many selections of bottle and hand pulled ales as well as coffee/teas and soft drinks. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We were offered free coffees several time during our stay (on arrival, before breakfast, lunch, dinner). The clientele that frequent the pub areas are young (early to mid 20's) to middle age. Lively and fun bar with friendly people. The pub stays open very late but the rooms were well sound proofed and we didn't hear a squeak. Would recommend. Read other reviews on Trip Advisor and you will get the same feedback. Excellent for a weekend break or longer. Price is just right too. 5 stars from me and will definitely return.More
This place is nice to have a pint of cider and to eat a collection of different food from all different food places in their vicinity. I can highly advise a burger from charlies burger next door combined with a pint of cider from long...johns pub.More
