Lunch of Burger and Chicken Curry, washed down with Prosecco and Leffe respectively. Friendly and efficient service, quick. Good value. We both enjoyed our meal. On our walk through Hoorn, this seemed to be the busiest place.

No doubt the most beautiful building in town with a restaurant in it. It is run a bit like a big joint, meaning the guy taking your glasses will not accept orders. Coffee is ok, so are the sandwiches.

Located centrally. Had lunch on their terrace; steak sandwich and a chicken curry breadroll. Both turned out to be mediocre and bland. No pepper & salt provided. Especially the curry could use quite a bit more spices. Portions small, given the prices. Worst though is the service, everything takes a long time.. After finally being able to order, it took... We stopped in this eatery while visiting this town on our recent Viking cruise after we completed our walking tour and enjoyed a light meal prior to going back to our ship

Seeing that the going rate for a cup of coffee these days is anything upwards of €2, a buffet breakfast including coffee for €2.50 seems too good to be true. Being slightly jaded and world wary I expected some kind of catch, and checked with the waitress, imagining that I had heard incorrectly. It's not some cheap canteen hidden away... More

We come here a lot for lunch or whine. The building itself is very old and the outside is located at the old center of Hoorn. If there is sun, you're sure De Waag has it all day!

Beside having "the Waag" in Hoorn, it's a 650 year old town..with a fantastic harbour. In the VOC days, ships sailed from here, to and from " the new world" loaded with spices, and ortiental things from the far east.. .....Lots of very old houses tc. It's just a beautiful old town.......look up the streets and actractions on Google maps......just... More

Rode our bikes into Hoorn and stopped here for a couple of drinks. Lovely square to watch the passing parade of people. Beautiful old buildings and a great museum opposite. Friendly service. Have eaten here a couple of years ago, just a drink this time

I have been coming to De Waag for more than twenty years but find that standards have definitely dropped in recent years. We had dinner here recently and the menu is disappointing to say the least. In fact the menu is rather interchangeable with those of many nearby touristy restaurants: meal salads, chicken sate dishes, steak with frites etc. I... More

You couldnt miss the huge cheese scales here (hard to imagine needing them but they did), but there are other points you may not see, look hard and ask the staff to point the special architecture out to you. We just had coffee which was done well.
