La Place on Kalverstraat was my children's favorite. Cafeteria-style, simple tables, open space, but great fresh and reasonably priced food. It's a four minute walk across a classic Amsterdam bridge from the Hotel de l'Europe, one of my 5 favorite hotels in the world.

Stopped to get a coffee at La Place in the Schiphol Plaza and ended up with a lukewarm latte for 4.5 euros. Big learning. Stick to Starbucks
