Recommended by friends who now live in Amsterdam, I went here after a morning concert at the Concertgebouw. Apparently frequented by "sophisticated" Dutch diners, it is pretty unpretentious, the service is excellent, being friendly, efficient and helpful. The bouillabaisse is splendid, and the main course prawn dish normally has them served "shell on" but I was told the kitchen staff... More

My wife and I had dinner at Brasserie Bark on the recommendation of our hotel and it was excellent. Very friendly service and both he halibut and swordfish were fresh, well prepared, and nicely presented. Dessert was outstanding in the form of a pear in puff pastry with vanilla cream. I'd recommend it and go back.

After a long day this restaurant was a lucky find as a place to eat late at night serving food while 12:30am. We had a vegetarian pasta meal and fish dish, both were lovely meals, very tasty and good portion size. However i felt that it was expensive and as others have said the staff were not too friendly.

We (young couple) visited place for lunch and service was terrible. Maybe for older people or what restaurants target group ever is staff acts more politely... or maybe the waitress just had a bad day. Food was ok. Nothing special but not tasteless either. Still for a place like this I would expect great food and service.

We looked at the outdoor menu and were interested. Varied menu with lots of omelet options. Good service and our meals for a large party came quickly. We enjoyed the food and will visit again.

The Brasserie Bark was recommended to us as an option by the concierge at the Marriott Amsterdam. Great Choice ! We had not booked a table, but were lucky to get a table for the two of us. We had fish and it was absolutely delicious !!!! Best meal during our week in Amsterdam. Friendly and service minded staff in... More

A little bit strange place... not easy to explain. Seems much nicer from outside than when inside. Food was good. We had steaks that were very nice. Desert also nice. Prices ok for what we had and for Amsterdam. Service also a little bit strange... the lady was very nice and kind. Another boy a little bit bumbling... dinner was... More

Stumbled across this place, while trying to find something to eat after finding our hotel, and honestly, it was awesome. Service was friendly, polite, and very quick. Nothing was too much effort, and the experience was great. Food, well my steak was nicely cooked, and complimented well by the sauce, and great dish, with lovely staff and atmosphere. Worth a... We were attracted by the atmosphere of this neighborhood gem. We ordered the mussel special. The portions were more than generous. The broth could have used more garlic. All in all, a safe bet.

Inspired by the characteristic brasseries in Brussels and Paris, Brasserie Bark is a lively seafood restaurant in Amsterdam's museum quarter. On the menu you'll find an assortment of fish and seafood dishes, from oysters to lobster, salmon to sole and even swordfish. The house speciality is the 'fruits de mer', an impressive selection of shellfish served over ice. The restaurant takes particular pride in only using fresh produce, which means that the menu changes 5-6 times a year, according to the season. Rather unusually for a restaurant in Amsterdam, Brasserie Bark stays open until midnight, so whether you are going for an informal dinner or business meeting, time need not be an issue.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
