We dined at this restaurant twice while staying at the Ambassade Hotel, once for dinner and once for breakfast. Our experience was highly positive both times. Our first night we arrived after a long drive. The service was flawless from start to finish. The setting...is fine, with some seats having excellent views outside towards the canal. We had the sense that the patrons were a mix of guests and others who were simply coming for dinner. Some have commented on the brevity of the menu, but that's a mark to us of a high-end restaurant - they have a set list of items prepared originally and very well. The three of us all had different entrees, and enjoyed them all very much. Our breakfast experience was similar. Although the menu was obviously very different, the service was just as good and we had just about anything we might have wanted. We will happily come here again on our next trip to Amsterdam.More

We had the duck leg confit, which came beautifully presented and was delicious, rounded off with a glass of good Bordeaux. Service was impeccable and staff had reserved us a table by the window, with a lovely view of the Herengracht.More

The Brasserie restaurant is part of the Ambassade hotel. It is located on the first floor of this beautiful hotel, with a splendid view of Herengracht. The interior spaces are very refined and elegant, decorated with the high-quality artwork of the Cobra art movement. In...addition to the particularly good and abundant breakfast, the restaurant offers for lunch and dinner some exquisite traditional French dishes. I had diner here twice, and my expectations have been more than fulfilled. For example, the oysters were fresh and full of the flavor of the sea. The confit de canard was exquisite, perfectly cooked, with the complex flavors. Another time, the menu du chef, accompanied by wines, recommended by the nice, attentive, and knowledgeable waiter Sergio was a gastronomic experience. The starter of this menu was the particularly good scallops with vegetables, but the real delight was the main dish, the quail, perfectly done, with a rich and succulent vegetables. Finally, to crown this stellar menu, I had a dessert based on exquisite chocolate. I recommend this excellent restaurant, with elegant surroundings, not numerous, but truly exquisite dishes, and attentive and competent staff. I think it would be right for the chef and staff of Brasserie to get soon some famous official recognition, because they really deserve it.More

We had breakfast every morning during our stay at The Ambassade. An assortment of bread, meat and cheese was brought to the table. In addition, eggs, sides and crepes could be ordered from the menu. It was delicious and a great way to start the...day. One evening we had dinner overlooking the canal. My husband had the steak frites and I had the duck confit; both dishes were very good. We shared a salad and a chocolate dessert. It was an excellent dinner. During one rainy afternoon we hung out in the bar area and had beer and bitterballen. Very relaxing. All of the staff provided great customer service. We will definitely dine here again when we visit Amsterdam in the future.More

The dress code is not formal, and unless your jeans are dirty or torn, they would be acceptable. Most patrons are dressed just a bit nicer than jeans, however.
