I am a fan of exotic cuisine and wanted to try an Indonesian restaurant. This one was recommended by our hotel. We had the rijsttafel and took our time tasting every dish. Don't hesitate to ask the server which sauce is spicy, what the different dishes are, etc. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The sauces were not spicy... More

Great Indonesian cuisine............ located very near my hotel, I decided to try my first meal in Amsterdam, and did not regret it at all!!!!!!!!!! A bit (or a lot!) of the best at the place. Warm and welcoming place! Just the ideal for a solo traveller..........

We went here to eat the traditional rice table based upon recommendations for our bike tour company. Unfortunately, this restaurant has some substantial problems. The food was quickly ushered to our table once ordered, with little or no description of many of the dishes. The complexity of flavor was lacking and many dishes tasted quite similar. The best dish was... More

We loved the food, and we ordered Indonesian Reistaffel like almost anybody else in the restaurant. Make a table reservation, or wait in the bar and have a beer or a drink, while you wait. The waiters are some of the most effective ones I have ever seen. We were seated and the food was there within 5-10 minutes, and... More

Called in on spec, they squeezed us (3) in. It was very busy and had a good atmosphere. The more senior dutch waiters were very good and made us very welcome. As it was very busy we took the set meal which was like dim sum portions, there was about 20 dishes all at once to feast upon. Maybe it... More

Very crowded, hot restaurant with efficient but unfriendly service. Food was bland and nothing special. Very disappointed. Would not recommend or come again.

Great rijsttafel! You'll need a reservation, and to plan on a couple of hours - this is not a meal to rush through. The staff was incredibly efficient, the food awesome, and the atmosphere comfortable. This is the Netherlands though - everything is cozy-tight - do not expect to spread out. In any case, this is a great place for... More

We visited the restaurant with another couple. We used to go here frequently many years ago and the place has not changed. The rice table is very good and definitely the dishes to eat. Make reservations as the restaurant is always packed.

The restaurant was very busy and we were packed in. We had to shimmy past other tables and diners to get in and out. The food was less than ok I don't think I'll be returning. I thought for what we received it was quite expensive we had the set menu of about 20 small dishes of traditional Indonesian food,... More

Some of the best food of our trip to Amsterdam. We weren't hungry enough for the whole multi dish entree, so we opted for the lunch plate to try multiple items. Phenomenally delicious. First time trying Indonesian food and would love to have more to compare.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
