Located on china town, super busy, the place was so small, they squeezed you in. Food wise is great,we ordered the peking duck and roast pork,no plum sauce offered.Normally there always plum sweet sauce on the side to compliment the duck.also ordered mapo tofu, was great. I saw nost of the table ordered sweet and sour pork/chicken,looked great, might order next time we visit. Price... More

The only place in Amsterdam where they would bluntly refuse to server tap water. There are many nice places around Zeedijk street, it would be a shame to choose the one with the worst service attitude.

This chinese restaurant presents some very interesting dishes, and (at least in comparison to the chinese restaurants in Italy) very good noodles. The menù presents a huge variety of noodles and rice, in particular it is recommended the noodles/fried rice menù where you can choose three types of meat together at the price of €10 (the other dishes in the... Had a lunch here on a busy Saturday. Restaurant was full, lucky to get a table! There was 4 of us, all ordered differently. Everything was great. All fresh, full of flavour and one of best Chinese meals I have had. Found at random, but will return when next in Amsterdam!

I chose New King more or less randomly. A couple of years ago I had brought my then 82 year old mother to Queens Day. On that visit, we had eaten at a couple of Chinese Restaurants, but in the Hurley Burley of Queens Day revelry, I have no idea which ones. I had brought my mom back to Amsterdam... More

Despite of always being crowded, I always consider to go to this restaurant whenever I am in Amsterdam. You will find excellent Asian foods there. The taste really meets Asian's demand. No wonder this restaurant is very popular among Asians. The price is good as it is friendly to your pocket. The only drawback is the queue line. It is... More

Fantastic Chinese, we always come here every time we visit and the quality of food never disappoints. Great atmosphere and very reasonable prices.

Being from Amsterdam, I visited New King multiple times before. As it's your typical Chinese restaurant, I never reviewed it on trip advisor. However, yesterday I realised that the service level is actually on an embarrassing level. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted fine. However, ordering a drink proved different. We ordered 2 draught beers. We were told... More

We had soup noodle (quite good) and BBQ rice (so-so but the serving is very generous). The staffs are quite rude though so service can be improved.

The place was crowded but I got a table fast. I got a noodle soup, good size, great taste. Service was poor and a little unfriendly. The price is fair.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
