Caramba is a good Mexican restaurant with, for Europe, authentic Mexican food. The staff are nice, the ambiance is really fun. And the food very very tasty. Good chilli sauce too for those who like things hot. The burritos are recommended.

we came without reservation, and it was uncomplicated to get a table although the restaurant was quite full. staff was friendly, relaxed and quick, food was good quality (although it could have been a little spicier for me), price range was medium for the location in the Jordaan. All in all a nice experience on a cold and rainy pentecost... More

Visited mainl because it was just across from our hotel but glad we did. Friendly mexican restaurant we were given two lots of nachos while waiting for our meal. Both our Main courses were excellent two burritos with steak served with a nice salad some mixed beans and hot sauce and a steak with salad and fries. Nice relaxed meal... More

Friendly service, public mainly local people, so our hopes were high. But the guacamole is clearly not home made and tasteless, vegetables for the veggie echiladas we're obviously deep frozen, lousy presentation. Greasy, heavy not fresh. Good atmosphere but unfortunately the food wasn't. Will not return.

Really relaxed place, seemed to be used more by locals than tourists which is always a good sign. Very tasty food in decent size portions. The nachos with chicken as a starter was a meal in its self. Reasonably priced compared to other places in Amsterdam.

We went here on a weeknight for dinner and the food was quite decent. They dont have an extensive selection of wine etc. but the place is okay for a quick bite. The food was average and the service was a little slow as there was only one waiter in the entire place. But I may pop by another time... More

Started with quesadillas which had some kick to them and then chicken fajitas for the main course. The chicken was very tender and well seasoned.

Noticed this restaurant last year during the day.....back in Amsterdam again & passed it on the way to Marnix bowl & had to stop! Definitely not disappointed. Service was great, really attentive. Great menu. Food was full of flavor! Price was comparable to what we pay in Australia & fortunately it was not the typical greasy variety associated with Mex... More

As alway when we feel the need for red meat, had diner at Caramba. Always an uncomplicated place, good size, good portions with excellent meat and usually very tasty chips or potatos. Service is usually adequate, but depends on who's around. A safe choice for your meat desire.

Steak was great, margarita awkwardly weak and overpriced. Home- made nachos are topped with fresh ingredients, but I missed the real spiciness of the authentic Mexican cuisine. Ok food but you would expect something more for this price.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
