My friends and I always visit this family-run, charming Indian restaurant. Great curries, great location and excellent service. Would definitely recommend!

The owners were very co-operative....a lady & her father were there. She smiled with a warm welcome...even though we went after closure time. Though it was closed she allowed us inside & seeing us hungry she asked her chef to serve us a meal. We had ordered a simple meal comprising of chana masala, chapati, dal & rice. The lunch... More

Best Indian restaurant in Amsterdam. Cheapest of all. I recommend this to everyone. Best place for peaceful dinner.

We were so happy that we found lunch service at such a low price that we directly placed the order. On the bright side, the delivery was prompt and the food was warm. The downside was that people who ordered non-spicy (mild) got spicy food and the ones who wanted spicy food, got mild. Looks like there were no adjustments... More

Without a doubt the most awful Indian meal I have ever been served. Without exaggeration I would describe the food as disgusting. Unable to eat more than the initial tasting bite. Avoid.

We looked for an Indian restaurant near to our hotel and had a list of 2. The first was packed and told the first table would be free in about 45 minutes, so we carried on the the second and last on our list. When we were offered a choice of about 5 tables to eat our meal, I wondered... More

Murugan is close to Anne Frank house and is a nice cosy place. Its not very crowded and a decent place to have indian food. The best part are the chapatis. I think they are the best i have ever eaten!! But rest of the food is just ok. Maybe if the chapatis were just good, i would never visit... More

Order from Murugan every friday. The food is cheap , tasty and so homely. The rotis are nice and soft and the curries are simple and nice. They also send garlic papad which is perfect. The takeaway quantities for curry are a little small. Maybe can do better there. You can definitely have this on ur speed dial whenever you... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
