I had a reservation for 8 people at 20:30, we arrived at 20:15 and got our table at 21:00. We didn't have a lot of time, so we asked if they would still be in time if we order so late and they said yes. Of course the food took forever and the service was really bad. The food was... More

We ate here on our last night in Amsterdam having tried to eat here before, but no tables available. Our first choice, the chicken with honey and mustard, had already sold out, so we opted for spare ribs, and poussin preceded by spinach soup and baked goats cheese. The starters were delicious, as were the mains. The spare ribs were... More

Looked u on trip advisor. Raining like crazy, didn't want to walk far. Great place, good beer, fab food. My fish was very well cooked, with a nice salad. VWR close to centre, so price was good. Would certainly go back.

A great local pub with friendly staff. It's only 5 mins from the Red Light District but none of the hustle and bustle. I went for the full rack of ribs that they were fantastic. The meat quite literally fell off the bone and had a fantastic flavour.

This was our first stop when we arrived in Amsterdam. We needed to kill some time before checking into the hotel. We had a few beers after the long journey and got the lunch special. The pork sandwich and the white asparagus soup were good.

The food is excellent and local. I tried the seasonal asparagus dish, and it was really nice. There is a good looking wine/spirits list, and a good selection of beer on tap. This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path which makes it even nicer. There is also a really nice section of outdoor seating available.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and we were not disappointed. The menu is simple, but they use quality ingredients and the portions are generous! They seated us in the garden area which was really cosy, with candles and the atmosphere one where locals were enjoying good food catching up with friends. Immediately we were offered drinks,... Recommended by our hotel for typical Dutch food. Down a nice side street off the main area. Very busy even at early time. Seated at bar while waiting for a table. Young attentive staff. The food was excellent. Huge portions ( the full size ribs was massive. Consider the half size). Great quick service considering the place was packed. Went... More

Hot evening, sat outside. Nicely busy, attentive waiting staff. Loved the food. Minor criticism was the lack of light as it got dark.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
