We came here after dekmantel festival needing some good and healthy food. We stopped here just by walking by and out of exasperation of just finding SOMEWHERE to eat. It was well worth the decision! We were served by a friendly waitress and we had the finger food buffet, the goats cheese Greek salad and the chicken ceaser salad. All... More

Stopped here to try some Dutch traditional food. Nice terrace friendly staff but 45 min for our food to arrive and cold! I thought they may be very busy so I didn't ask for the food, I don't like to be impatience but when I use the ladies I realised the inside was empty and most of the tables outside... More

Wednesday night dinner just down the road from DAM square. Chicken stuffed with cheese, prunes and dates was very tasty and served with gratin potatoes. The med salad was requested with dressing on the side which was provided. Between the two meals we were well fed and with a few beers/wine; well watered too. It seems to be frequented by... More

Waited over one hour for small burger and two wraps. Not very friendly staff, the food was ok, but overpriced.

I ate here twice while staying nearby in Rokin Street. Food was good with a varied menu but to my surprise this fairly large restaurant did not accept credit cards. Fortunately I had cash but this could have been a problem since all ATMs I found were closed down apparently for security reasons as this was the biggest public holiday... More

Stopped here for a half hour break out of the rain after a lengthy walk. We only needed a coffee as we had only half an hour until our next scheduled adventure, however we nearly didn't get this at all. The place itself is immaculate and the uniforms traditional and well presented but the service was mediocre and it took... More

With King's Day in full swing on a cold sunny day, we stopped in for warmth & a bite. Their coffee was good, their food was good & the service was attentive despite the crowds.

We organized a bachelorette weekend in Amsterdam. We had many things planned and after dinner we had to hurry to our next location. Luckily the restaurant knew, and served our 3 courses very fast. (such nice people) They even arranged a nice table in the middle, decorated with flowers, especially for the bachelorette! Other then their fast and nice service,... More

My husband and I had lunch there. He ordered the special which was a cop of homemade broccoli soup and a roast beef sandwich. He loved it. I had the black break roast beef sandwich with a cheese spread and tomatoes. See my photo. It was really good. For dessert we split the cream brûlée with cinnamon ice cream. Delicious.... More

Walking around Amsterdam stumbled into this lovely gem. Great service delicious food shared a plate roast beef and soup large enough to share and it was only 9.5 Euros. Beautiful decor very classy and mostly serves locals and they all speak English and have an outside patio.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
