Bridges is located in the Sofitel The Grand hotel in the center of Amsterdam.
I booked online a couple of weeks in advance and I was able to get hold of a table on a Saturday night.
When my friend and I arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by a very lovely lady who suggested if we wanted to have a drink at the hotel bar before having dinner.
We took her up on her offer and I had a delicious Bellini and my friend had a vodka-cola cocktail.
We finished our drink at our table and were then greeted by the maître d' who explained the menu and options to us. We opted for the 6 course menu at a set price of 89 euro and we also decided to go for the accompanying wines. We paid a bit more than 360 euro for 2 (cocktails, bottle of water and a 7th - cheese - course included). The food was excellent although portions were a bit small for my friend who is a big eater. Wines were really good too and service was very friendly and professional.
One attention point : we started dinner at around 19h30 and finished around midnight, so the waiting time between all the different courses could be a little shorter in our opinion.
But all in all Bridges was a very nice surprise and I would definitely go back there if the opportunity arose.

We had such a nice evening, everything was perfect. The food, service, location. They have a beautiful garden where you can first enjoy a nice cocktail, with a barman who definitely knows what he is doing. We then went inside for the diner, it was very cozy. We had a table with a small view on a canal. We choose the 5-course menu with wine arrangement. It is a very fine modern cuisine style made with fresh ingredients. Every dish looked and tasted so good. Almost every bite was a surprise. It is indeed more of a fish restaurant but my friend who was not eating any fish/seafood had a special menu prepared for him by the chef. We even discovered some great and interesting wines, out of the ordinary. The staff was very professional and friendly. They took very good care of us, and made us feel welcome right from the start. We didn't wait long between meals nor was it served too fast neither. Truely perfect evening. I don't even think it was expensive for the quality you get and the types of ingredients they use. Definitely worth it !

Six course tasting menu with a wine flight on a Sunday afternoon. On the whole, it was bliss. It was perfectly cooked although it was primarily fish. The high note was the caviar with potato. Utter genius!
The langoustine dish was also a high note, along with the veal which was unctuous.
The range of amuse bouches was delightful, the spicy carrot must notable.
However, the amuse ricotta and the cod dish, whilst delicately cooked lacked flavour and were uninspring. A little refinement is required.
The staff were impeccable although I would urge the management to provide them with uniforms that are more flattering.
It was remarkable to spend time at Bridges in such quiet seclusion and yet be in the middle of the bustle of the centre of Amsterdam.
It was truly a great experience and we will be there again soon.

The "main courses" with meat were great but everything else was somehow lacking. The bread with butter and salt was not well thought. Hard bread, difficult to cut, a giant chunk of butter, and salt enough for 10 people were served to us (we were 2 people).
The serving was slow and we were waiting too long for each dish.
The dining room felt very crowded and far from being cozy. The interior is bland and seriously needs to be reconsidered.
If you're looking for an unforgettable experience with exceptional food and service there are a lot better options in Amsterdam.
But to be fair the food is really good it's just too pricey and Bridges didn't deliver the experience we expected. Hence the low rating.

I came with a date to dine at Bridges and it was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Always centered on the details. We decided to take the 6 courses of the Menu du Chef. The food was delicious and we were delighted by the colorful presentation of the dishes. And if you choose the cheese platter for dessert, they will bring a cheese trolly near you and prepare it in front of you. The dishes are adapted according to the allergies or intolerances that one has.
Additionally, we choose to have the wine pairing option with the menu. Their sommelier came personally to the table to explain every single one of the wines which were very tasty.
Also, they are taking the corona situation very seriously. The staff wears masks, they have disinfectants gels everywhere and they have a walking route in the restaurant to make sure there is as little contact between guests as possible. Perfect for dates and celebrations!

It was my girlfriend's Birthday and as we were staying in amsterdam, i decided to book a table here for her dinner.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and even so, we were kindly greeted at the front door. The clerk took my camera bag and our jackets for safe keeping and ushered us to the bar.
Our bartenders were great! They dazzled us with excellent skills while testing our taste buds with exquisite Gin and tonic's that we had never tried before. (Raspberry and rose, Lemon spritz)
Before long, our table for two was ready and we were sat at eye level to the adorable canal.
We had heard that Bridges was famous for their seafood, but i wanted to see how their meat was since it wasn't their specialty. We ended up both ordering their prime rib for mains and a collection of oysters to start.
We were pleasantly surprised that four starters arrived at the table (gratis) which consisted of a rainbow of different colours, tastes and umami. All delicious and mouth watering, really got us ready for our prime rib. Just when we thought it couldnt get better, our oysters arrived! We ordered oysters from NZ and from the West coast of the US to see if we could tell a difference (suprisingly we could!) They both were amazing with the paired toppings!
A few minutes later our waiter arrived, very politely asking how our meal was going and engaged us in conversation for about 10-15 minutes. We got to know his name, where he was from and some of the local favourites they suggest. We loved this and thought it very personal.
Our main courses arrived: two inch thick prime rib, paired with a delish white asparagus (Famous in amsterdam) on a small bed of mashed potatoes. This meal was by far the best meat i've had in a few years. The meat was so tender it could be cut with a spoon and the vegetables were cooked to perfection.
Our meal concluded with a very cute Birthday surprise (Again Gratis) of a delicious pastry with berries and ice cream.
The restaurant made my girlfiend's birthday so special, i would go back here any day!

From the moment we arrived at the restaurant we were amazed. The service was fantastic with every single member of staff making us feel welcome and valued.
We had a cocktail at the bar before moving to our table and this was delicious. The 5 course menu with wine pairing and it is the best food we have had since moving to Amsterdam.

Positive atmosphere, beautiful setting, delicious food with perfect delivery and a creative presantation.
We celebrated my boyfriends birthday and the team took every opportunity to create a memorable experience. The ‘menu du chef’ was delicious and perfectly paired with their wine menu.

As Easter is going to be too busy for us, we decided to try the Easter brunch on the Friday before. What a treat! We enjoyed it all. From the bagel with salmon to the quiche, the sweets and salads, the spelt bread and croissants, vitella tonato, cheeses and charcuterie, every item was great. Simply magnifique!
Well worth it and we are really thinking about ordering something else which the great team of Bridges is offering on their site to take home and enjoy. This way, at least we are able to experience the best they have, until we are able to sit down and be there in person again to enjoy a marvelous lunch or dinner.

In the last 58 years I have eaten at least 63,510 times and our dinner last night at Bridges is quite likely the best meal I have ever had.
To start with the service can always make or break a meal and from the moment we walked in, we were treated like royalty (and not the local, Dutch royalty which it seems most people around here don’t care for, but like royalty everyone adore, you know, like Elvis.
They offered a chef’s menu of either 7, 6 or 5 courses. We opted for the full 7-course meal and I am so glad we did. One of the highlights of the meal was most of the dishes came with a sauce that our server drizzled over the dish and then, to my ultimate delight, they left the extra sauce on the table!
These sauces were so good my wife stated after the 3rd or 4th course, “They could bring us spam on a cracker next and I would ask ‘where’s the sauce’”
I could go on about each course but suffice to say that each one was unique and delicious. Never before have I had a chef combine carpaccio and oysters but oh my, was it delicious.
And don’t be scared by seven course. Each was a pretty small dish but combined it was all a very satisfying, but not overfilling, meal.

My family and I visited Bridges for the first time last weekend. It had been a long time since we had planned a family dinner and we were really looking forward to it. We were welcomed with a smile and guided to our dinner table in the restaurant. The view on the canal was lovely and the restaurant was cozy! We decided to go with the full seven course menu and wine pairing. What an absolutely delicious dinner this was! Every dish that was served looked stunning, and the delicate flavours and textures were exceptional. All of the friendly faces in the restaurant were enthusiastic and professional, and made us feel comfortable and special. Sommelier Roos in particular made our evening even better with her stories about the wines that accompanied the courses. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

We had dinner at the Chef’s Table in the kitchen of the restaurant, being served a 7 course menu. It was an unforgettable experience: the food, the wines but in particular the exchanges with the chef and the other staff in the kitchen whilst watching the food being prepared by consummate professionals. We felt truly pampered!

When my friend and business partner Matthew Fleck from San Francisco found out we’d be dining in Amsterdam on layover to the states December 20, he was emphatic that we try Bridges, which we did, finding it very special and wonderful in all ways. The atmosphere is tops, a window view of the Oude Zijds canal, with an intimate ambiance inside, decor, lighting music, general atmosphere, friendliness and attentive service. If this was not enough, I have to say I’ve never seen a menu like Bridges anywhere in the world. Unique and exotic does not do it justice. Every dish had special and I’m confident hard to find ingredients, with equally one of a kind preparation. All delicious. We had a goose liver pâté combined with a carpaccio like appetizer that included a light oil roasted sishi leaf, hand made multi grain chips with a creamy seafood dip, and an assortment of fresh breads and a lovely butter selection. After that, langoustines and deer as shared main courses and a lovely sampler of unusual but decadent fruit ice cream scoops. A nice South African white Thorne Daughters Rocking Horse Cape White Blend 2020 was amazingly delicious throughout the meal-one I’m going to look for to add to the cellar. All this on an easy schedule for the evening, including an after dinner canal stroll, before slingshotting back to the states at noon the next day.
Bravo to Bridges. We shall return!

book ahead. located in the grand hotel, this classic restaurant has specialised more on sea food. i was able to enjoy several meals here including the 8 piece taster and accompanying wines.
the seabass in salt is to die for and when they say for two they mean for two.
dress was casual and the atmosphere relaxed.
