Loved it

The duck, the wine, the service, the steak tartaar, it all matches, surprises. Cannot imagine it was the first time in a place that has been there for so many ages. Loved it.

A dependable lunch, reasonably good value, nice service, fresh ingredients, traditional setting, in an old house with an open aspect, front on street, back on a garden, all fine... No risk coming here...

Great restaurant where they treat you great since the moment you walk in. Elegant, cozy and comfortable. Not too many tables and great acoustics, so you can have a nice conversation without having to raise your voice. Food is exquisite. The wine list is impressive, and the waiter who atteded us was quite an expert making great recommendations on French... More

It is alright. Most of the dishes are fairly standard, nothing special: you'll get fish with mashed potatoes and carrots, creme brulee etc. Quality is good but not more. Prices are slightly on the high side for the food (given the quality). Prices for wine and water are really high and the selection of wine is average. To sum up:... More

We were here for a Gala dinner with around 65 persons so the traditional atmosphere combined with excellent service was the main criteria of choice for our selection. The food here was excellent and extremely well presented. Service was attentive and fast without being too over the top.

This must be a great restaurant if you adore fish. I don't. Not my type of dinner. Only choice is (a very good!) steak tartare. That gives them a small plus. Still, big prices for small portions. Public: by far mostly old people.

What a great discovery, and they are here already for 35 years! This restaurant in an old house has a good atmosphere and a nice interior. The service is outstanding, very polite and with a smile. Often in restaurants you have to wave extensively to draw the waiter’s attention, not here. The food is delicious. We had marinated salmon with... More

Tipped for a nice lunch by the DK Eyewitness Travel book. A pleasant walk from the Rijksmuseum. A nice garden if the weather is good. Lovely food and great service.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
