I just ate at tempo doeloe with my boyfriend and it was definitely a worthwhile experience. I am Indonesian and he is Mexican, so I've been wanting to introduce him to quality Indonesian food. I have to say that tempo doeloe exceeded my expectations. The sate babi with peanut sauce was delicious, the Rijstaffel for 2 was the perfect size... More

We initially had reservation at another restaurant to try the rice table but Tempo was recommended to us by a local who told us this restaurant's food is more authentic than the others in Amsterdam. You need a reservation to get in. We ordered the large rice table dinner for 2 with 24 small dishes. We were told by our... More

We ordered the Rijsttafel Istamewa, with 18 separate dishes, which was more than enough food for two. When we asked, the server patiently explained each dish. The vegetable dishes were underwhelming and some of them tasted a bit similar, but the shrimp, chicken satay, liver, and pork were excellent. A bit pricy, but worth it!

I had never had Indonesian food and our hotel recommended this place. It seems that many hotels recommend it because it was packed with tourists. It was pretty expensive but very good, we really enjoyed it. But perhaps there are cheaper options that are as good or better.

The rice table is good.... Not great, and quite pricey. Service was ok, but for the cost you'd expect more. The fish was mediocre, and you can't get tap water, only bottled. Expect to drop some cash, and reservations are a good idea. Some of the vegetarian dishes were very flavorful, but again, a bit over sold.

We had a very good and very filling rijstafal here. The service and welcome was very good, and the food was varied. Only the very last dish of 27 was almost, though not quite too spicy.

Well, it was interesting. We had a group of 15 and they were completely packed and they put things on the table for us to eat and ran away before we could ask what all the little bowls of food were. We were waiting for a server to return to ask and finally started eating various little bowls. We could... More

Have not had a Rice Table in many years and made the mistake of eating here. It's one thing that the ingredients are poor, but the preparation had most of the meats and chicken overcooked. My wife's fish was supposedly deboned but every bite was laden with bones. Skip this place.

We were recommended to go here by our Hotel. We had the tasting menu which I think had something like 20 dishes!! They were all tiny but perfectly formed. We wondered if we would get through it all but we did. It had been a long time since I had had a Rice Table and they used to be all... More

This is a very casual, fun place to dine. It's small and busy but it's run very efficiently. The rice tables are the thing to have and they come mild, spicier and really spicy. Be warned if you don't like too spicy! They do supply some sugary substance on request to calm the palette down. It's a family owned business... More
