We had a rice dish and a noodle dish - both freshly made by the chef who greeted us personally - with several glasses of wine and coca cola, we had change from 25 Euros - which is almost unheard of in this city. Beware - it closes early!

I had a light lunch, one of the classic Indonesean dishes. Nice, healthy and tasty - at less than 10 euro!

Nasi Goreng Kambing is the best! Inspired by NGK from Kebon Sirih. But not greasy. With fried emping. Nice small place but very meaningful for our family😊

Sie Joe is a small, hidden casual restaurant near Dam Square. Service is quick and food is flavorful--this one can see because the restaurant was full and the turnover of customers was brisk. Very good satays and nasi goreng.

Found this very small and unassuming restaurant behind Dam Square. We were looking for simple and quick Asian meal. We ordered the Nasi Goreng and 2 serves of chicken and lamb satay. The meal was delivered quickly and tasted great. This is a very small restaurant and would not be able to accommodate groups. It also does not take credit... More

An oasis of rest and warmth contrasts with the busseling frenzy that reigns around Dam square. For years this kind family has been cooking authentic Indonesian dishes next to your table. The calm indonesian chatter ads to the serene atmosphere. The excuisite sate that comes with the longton special makes you crave for more. Don't expect any room for a... More

After a few days of pasta, steaks and fries I was looking for some spice and chanced upon a review of Sie Joe. It is located just behind the New Church . The place is small with 3 tables inside and two outside so we had to wait for a pretty long time. But we were glad we did. We... More

This small Indonesian restaurant features some dishes on the menu that are hard to find anywhere else. Mie Tektek comes to mind. That being said, the tastes seem to be a bit bland compared to proper Indonesian cuisine. Its nice, but not outstanding.

This gem is almost rudimentary in it's simplicity: no alcoholic drinks, very simple menu. The food tastes fantastic, and the service is fast and good. You don't want to use much time here, and you will leave happy. After the meal I recommend turning left and walk the short distance up to Cafe Belgique and a good beer!

Thank drengen

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
