We dined at this fine restaurant on our first night in Amsterdam. The food is modern Dutch, and the service was excellent. Our entrees were a delicious veal pate and herring tartare. Main courses were sea bass and guinea hen. Desserts were three Dutch cheeses with fig preserves and also the house specialty hemelse modder (white and dark chocolate mousse... More

First night in Amsterdam for many a year - this city has really got busy. So make sure you book at Hemelse Modder (means heavenly mud). It's great. Modern Dutch food in a lovely room with very friendly service who cared about what they were doing. The food - mackerel, duck, tarbotine, lovely deserts. The wine - excellent German burgundy.... After the Anne Frank House Tour, we ventured to Pesce for dinner. Only to find out there is a two hour wait - we did not have reservations So, we started waling to Hemelse Modder recommended by our host at Maurio Mansion. Another good recommendation. We got seated as soon as we arrived (around 8:15 PM). We ordered the mackerel... More

We live close to this restaurant but have never visited before. The menu changes regularly and is fixed price for different courses. I had the shrimp croquette and the cod, both were excellent, small nicely presented portions but that is what I prefer. Staff were friendly and service was very good, the restaurant was very full so I would recommend... More

We came upon this restaurant by accident, and misunderstood their pricing system. However we were very glad we did as this was the best meal of our stay. Beautifully prepared and cooked, modest portions. Attentively served lovely.

I used Tripadvisor to find a restaurant close to our hotel and first of all came up with a French restaurant. Daughter thought that was inappropriate when we were in Amsterdam and I tried again and booked this place. It was ideally located on the way home from our sightseeing. We arrived and were given a greeting as if we... More

5 course dinner. 3 courses were good, 2 were ok, but at bit lacking in flavour. The paired wine was good, but not great. Have given a 4 star rating, because of a very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Would try again.

We spent a wonderful evening with our 3 little kids, sitting outside in the backyard on a hot summer evening. Dinner was fabulous, service and atmosphere were perfect (very family friendly). And the price was ok.

Unexpected find that we noticed earlier in the day walking past. The restaurant is clean, modern and offers an interesting menu. Unlike others I thought the portions were of a good size . 5 courses with wine pairings brought the bill to €75 per head. Staff were amiable and relaxed. I didn't like the €3 charge for some very average... More

Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
