Nice charming place, with relaxing atmosphere. Food is good, prices reasonable. Near Anne Frank house museum. Service is very slow, but if you are not in the hurry, no problem.

Had a lovely lunch here, limited menu but plenty of tasty vegetarian options on menu, I had the quiche and salad which I thoroughly enjoyed, it tasted excellent with lots of veggies but a little heavy, and I did think that it was rather expensive at €14 for lunch, bottled water on menu also quite expensive but they will serve... Couldn't get into my two go to restaurants, De Belhamel or Bordewijk, so took a walk around and stumbled across this place. The Bolhoed 3 course special started with of a perfectly flavored and just right temperature tomato based soup with carrots and lentils. The second course was a variety of vegetables and a bit of tofu. Lentils, and a... More

We are neither vegans or vegetarians but like to eat healthy, delicious food. De Bolhead delivered this in spades. The service was slow. Reasonably pricey but good size main meals. It is a simple restaurant, part ageing hippy decor and then with a few quirky furnishings such as a chandelier made from cupie doll heads and arms. The location is... More

Stumbled across this place and shared a 3 course meal. The food took a little while to come out but they told us in advance. The desserts in the fridge after were amazing!!!

Found de bolhoed randomly when trying to find somewhere to eat that my brother could have proper vegan food instead of just eating chips. It was amazing. He had the African dish and I had the Asian. Both vegan (even though I'm not vegan) and I can vouch that mine was gorgeous. And my brother said his was as well.... More

Fresh and organic food! All that we tried was really tasty! The onions soup was pretty good! The atmosphere is also good.

I walked across town to get there upon recommendations but failed to make a reservation, being on my own and without a cellphone plan in the NL. So I was disappointed to have to wait for a table on a Tuesday night (make notes: make a reservation). Once I had a table and ordered the food was really good. The... More

I am really sorry but very disappointing. Ordered the guacamole for starters seriously lacking in any seasoning and chilli ! Bland and soapy ! Mains course was dished up whilst I was still eating the starter and pretty much chucked on the table .... I had the quiche which I saw the waitress man handle from the cold cabinet onto... More

Bolhoed serves really good vegetarian dishes - from salads, sandwiches to quiches and great desserts. All of this if you are willing to wait 10 minutes until being asked what you want to drink, another 10 minutes until your table is cleaned from the previous guests and another 20 minutes for your order to arrive. A single waiter is serving... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighborhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
