This is not my first Michelin restaurant in Amsterdam. The restaurant seemed to be very good. A fascinating view from the top of the hotel. Good design. Very handsome waiters. Good food decoration. All this was expected from such a place. This is a 2 Michelin star restaurant with an upscale price. So it should be very good. But there were... More

My husband and I dined here during our trip to Amsterdam - it was the best meal we had in Amsterdam, and may be one of the best meals we've ever had. The service was exceptional, from the moment we stepped into the hotel lobby. We were greeted and escorted to the elevator. The restaurant is on the top floor... More

I was staying at Okura and went there by chance because they had once cancellation. It was one of the most delightful experience I have had. I had incredible company too but this experience with the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, their deep knowledge on the wines and sake, and the magical combination of the food with the view... Drawn to the tasting menu and views; food was quite good; service had its moments; sits atop a Japanese hotel locked in the 1980s, but don't let that hold you back. Knowledgeable and fun staff, offering great food and wine pairings made for a truly enjoyable and relaxing evening. Adults only...foodies only: makes for a delightful combination!

Beautiful setting food was all delicious! The sommelier was very knowledgable and friendly. Some of the wine pairings were amazing especially the oyster and Sake. Would definitely recommend as long as your aware it's going to be a pricey affair! Only criticism is it wasn't a very relaxed atmosphere. Views are stunning one of the best I've had at any... More

Nice setting on the top floor of the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam. Great views, not so great meal. We had the tasting menu. It was 9 courses of beautifully presented but not particularly tasty dishes. Given each dish averaged $30 plus I expected perfection. Much was made of each dish's delivery, with almost comedic results, often because the lengthy explanations... More

Dinner with my ex boss in this Michelin restaurant at the hotel Okura. He was paying. We had the tasting menu. The waitresses resembled something out of a Robert Palmer video. We were shown to our table two very sophisticated ladies came over in synch and flipped open in unison rolled up knapkins. My ex boss said in his Californiona... More

I visited this place some ten years ago. At that time everything felt old and stuffy. The decor is still very much studio 54 like and badly needs a refurbishing. The views are great and the food is stunning. Took the large menu, every dish picture perfect and very harmonious taste. The wine list, skimpy on red burgundies and very... More

Description
One of Amsterdam's most remarkable restaurants, situated on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, the Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and, much like the adjacent Twenty Third Bar, offers a stunning panoramic view of Amsterdam's city centre. This breathtaking vista and the luxurious design, together with the personal hospitality, all combine to create a unique atmosphere. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant's ambitious kitchen staff serve an international cuisine, prepared with seasonal products and characterised by its innovation. The Sommelier's professionalism and close cooperation with Executive Chef and Manager Onno Kokmeijer results in a perfect harmony between wine and food. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant also offers three luxurious private areas: the Starlight Room, the Salon Panoramique, and the Chef's Table in the restaurant's kitchen.

Staying in De Pijp

Neighborhood Profile
De Pijp
Bustling Albert Cuypstraat serves as the main drag through De Pijp and the location for Albert Cuyp Market, the largest and most famous of Amsterdam’s many outdoor markets. Beyond this sometimes-frantic thoroughfare, tiny lanes beckon urban explorers in search of the latest trends and hidden gems. Nearly half the residents living in De Pijp are foreigners and a good number of them are students. Here you'll find a multitude of ethnic restaurants, great cafes and bars, and a brilliant array of locally owned shops, all catering to a broad range of budgets and tastes.
