In the middle of the Red Light District this fantastic restaurant is down a small alley way and is a small the equivalent of a hole in the wall pub but a restaurant . They ask what you do not like to eat and then ask if you would like 3, 4 or 5 courses. They offer the dinner to... More

We had a wonderful meal here. I came with my mother right after Christmas. The food and the service were both wonderful. I don't eat seafood and was nervous about being accommodated, but they assured me it was no problem and I had a fantastic meal. We had a reservation for the Anne Frank house afterwards, and we budgeted our... More

Right in the middle of the Red Light District. Across the street from one of the most famous Red Light theaters, Casa Rosso. We opted for the 4 course dinner along with the wine pairings. It was great and the wine pours were very generous. The downstairs dining room is very small, but there is a larger room upstairs. I... More

Persevere down the alley in the red light district, it's well worth it. We sat in a nice corner, the waiters were charming. We chose to be surprised as each dish arrived; we were surprised and delighted. Our veggie said her dishes were some of the most well-thought out and excellent she has had.

The service & meal were wonderful. However from when we were seated, to when our desert was served....literally 2 1/2 hours. At times it felt that perhaps they slowed our service, so that other tables which were seated up to 1 hour later than us, could catch up....so the chef could could several pre fixe dishes at the same time.... The location of this memorable restaurant is very unusual. Situated right in the heart of the red light district down an alley between the sex shops you are suddenly in an oasis of calm and tranquility. Truly surprising and we were not sure WHY they are there as it must put some people off. Perhaps they like catering for more... More

Please don't be put off by the location of this restaurant, although it is in the middle of the red light district , it is situated at the bottom of an alleyway, it's so nice you could imagine you are in Italy Every dish was created and executed with perfection , I don't want to spoil the menu as it's... We went there following the recommendation of a Dutch friend and we were not disappointed. The quality of the food is fantastic and the attention of the personnel also outstanding. The menu is fixed, you can have 3, 4 or 5 courses and you can choose to know what they will serve to you or be surprised. They can accommodate... More

Absolutely top notch! A set menu with a variety of unexpected dishes which all were picture perfect and with fantastic taste. The suggested wines matched the dishes equally well and the gluten free requirement was taken care of. Will definitely come again.

What a find! Guess you never know what you may find when you walk down an alley in the Red Light District. So glad we walked into this slice of paradise between the two more colorful businesses in the Red Light District. Don't worry , you will be fine and completely rewarded for your adventure with an incredible meal and... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
