What a fantastic experience from start to finish. The food is outstanding, as good as any one star Michelin we’ve been to over recent years in the U.K. and Europe. We visited in January when the chef was on holiday - well testament to his team as the food was faultless. 7 courses of perfectly cooked food, artfully presented and delivered at a great pace. The waiters was dressed formally but had a great informal attitude which we appreciated. We will definitely return when we next visit Amsterdam. My only small point of improvement would be to work on the drinks menu, an offering of aperitifs and cocktails and non alcoholic options would make a real difference and get the night off to a great start.

What a wonderful evening with the best food and wine matching we have ever had. Having been to some Michelin Jules Verne in Paris Eiffel Tower, Cheval Blanche also amazing at Trois Roi hôtel in Basel, Chèvre D’or in EZE, Vinkeles in Amsterdam, Le Chantecler Le Negresco hotel in Nice, plus many other I think I am qualified to say I am amazed this place is not Michelin rated. The service was brilliant friendly yet professional the food simply amazing and the wine matching the best I have had. We had the 8 course degustation, which on a hungry tummy worked perfectly. My wife stated that every degustation we have had has at least one not so great course, but every item placed in front of us was a work of art, but more importantly tasted fantastic. Well done to the whole team at this amazing little restaurant, you get 3 stars from this diner.

We went for dinner on Saturday evening to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had an amazing meal. We opted for the 8 course tasting menu which was just divine. The appetisers and all 8 courses left you wanting more. The staff were incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and accommodating. Our waiter knew it was my husband’s birthday and brought out a large indoor sparkler and said ‘happy birthday’ which was a nice touch. We’ve eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants and the food here was definitely some of the best we’ve had. The building is very old, wonky and full of character which definitely adds to the whole dining experience too.

De Silveren Spiegel impresses with stunning presentation and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The flavors are rich and layered, with a touch of exotic spice. We booked the 5-course menu but upgraded to 8 courses—worth it! The venison main was perfectly cooked with a deep, flavorful sauce.

Everything was superb. We sat outside on a beautiful cool evening. The 8 course wine pairing was excellent. The presentation was beautiful- each course a piece of art. The food was delicious. The service was lovely- the couple who owns the restaurant visited each table, interacting with diners in a manner that did not feel contrived. It felt like we were visiting family for a special occasion.
The servers explained each dish and were patient while we inspected the labels on the wine and asked questions. The building is historic and beautifully maintained.
We recommend this very special restaurant enthusiastically and without reservation.

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation and truly enjoyed our dining experience. Set in a 400 year old building, it has a sense that you have stepped into a Rembrandt painting yet the bright white table cloths, comfortable cloth chairs and white walls suggest a modern time. The host and staff were very attentive. We especially enjoyed our server, Harry Potter, who explained each dish which was quite eloquent. Dining with friends, we collectively chose the 8 course menu. We started with complimentary canapés. They had a surprising and delicious mix of flavors that we did not expect. The shaved scallops with radish was a tasty combination of texture. The langoustine, quail and lamb were cooked perfectly which makes me wonder why this restaurant doesn’t have a Michelin rating. Included were two desserts that were too yummy not to finish. The first was an ice cream and sponge cake combo and the second was a creamy custard with a crunchy sugary topper. This is one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had and would recommend de Silveren Spiegel to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

What an amazingly restaurant. From the first email I sent through to leaving feeling so happy with the evening the entire experience was fantastic.
The food was just incredible, a complete taste sensation, ranging from an explosion of Dutch onion taste through to a medley of lamb which was exquisit.

Last year I enjoyed a Christmas dinner here with my brother for the first time. We liked that so much that we repeated it this year.
From start to finish, every dish hits!
The three amuses were again very surprising (razors with a slightly spicy accent, fakers with a poultry pâté and a scoop with Amsterdam acid).
Course 1 consisted of a roll of kingfish, with fresh notes of cucumber to taste.
Gang 2 was a vegetarian dish with pumpkin. Rarely tasted so much flavor in a vegetarian dish.
Corridor 3 was a Saint Jacob's shell with champagne sauce. Jammie!
Corridor 4 was turbot with Hollandaise sauce. Perfection!
Corridor 5 was a quail dish. Nothing to complain about.
Corridor 6 was a venison steak with a fantastic gravy.
Corridor 7 was the dessert in the shape of a Christmas tree
A perfectly matching wine was served with each course.
The quantities are of course adapted to the number of courses, so small but fine dishes. At the end of the long a wonderful evening you just about fall apart.

This was one of the best meals ever!! We had the 5 course tasting meal which was reasonably priced compared to comparable experiences at other fine dining restaurants. The service was impeccable. Every detail was upscale from the cutlery to the napkin holders. The food was fresh, flavorful and inventive without being pretentious.

Service was amazing, particularly Harry and Chris, our well-seasoned servers. Beautiful food in historical home from 1600’s. The story of the building, the family who owned it, and its place in Amsterdam’s history was shared incrementally by the server as each gorgeous plate was presented in our tasting menu experience. We thought we were treated especially well when we showed up early, thought we were special, then slowly each new patron was welcomed with the same warm but efficient treatment. The kitchen is manned by artists, and the taste of it all was unexpected and delicious. A real surprise not to be missed!

We had an exceptional dining experience at De Silveren Spiegel. My husband and I enjoyed a seven-course meal, starting with a glass of sparkling wine followed by a glass of white wine. For that special evening meal on holiday the De Silveren Spiegel lived up to the expectations of great food, beautifully presented and with solid hospitality. As a group of four we all found something special to take away from the evening and the wine paring was fantastic too. Who knew white port was that good?!

I had a wonderful experience at Der Spiegel. I reserved weeks in advance with some quirky requests: nothing too fishy, too smoke flavored, or too raw. They were graceful in accommodating me.
I had the 5 pre fixe course. I can't remember what I had, but the flavors were very fresh, vibrant, and complex.
The restaurant is lovingly owned and operated by a family: the mom hosts and serves, the son is the chef, the DIL does the marketing. It's awesome.
The staff treated me so well and were so much fun.
