Lovely French restaurant in a nice part of town in the canal district. Beautifully cooked food which is not too fussy or too rich. Had a delicious skate and potato salad starter with capers, followed by rabbit and cabbage plus yogurt/ fruit desert. Wine was...truly excellent and staff gave us a very good recommendation on that front. Lovely and relaxed and friendly. Had a fantastic evening there on the last day of our trip - very memorable.More

The restaurant was full yet peaceful, the menu is limited but tasteful and seasonal, the team is friendly and knowledgeable, it is also fairly affordable, I highly recommend to book and go!

This was an total delight and treat in every way. I highly recommend everything about this restaurant: the atmosphere, the quality of the produce, the cooking were all wonderful. Also an interesting choice of wines available by the glass, selected to complement the food, very...helpfully introduced and explained. In a holiday studded full of lovely experiences, this was one of the absolute highlights. I will definitely make Cafe de Klepel my last-night-of-holiday dinner when I am next back in Amsterdam!More

Understand the place is popular, so the staff may have developed a thicker skin. That said, agree with the patrons who’ve said the staff come across as arrogant and dismissive. Many of my friends are in the service industry so I can empathize, but the...staff shouldn’t let the reputation of the restaurant go to their heads. Professionalism, please.More

We had a wonderful 3 course dinner at the lovely, cozy, popular restaurant. The food was so delicious - we had requested fish and vegetables, all were prepared using local ingredients. And a really nice wine list of primarily French wines. Our waiter was so...nice and fun; there was such a wonderful convivial vibe in the room of people enjoying their meals and each other. Highly recommend. Be sure to reserve in advance, we sat at a table but the bar seats looked very nice too.More

Firstly, this restaurant is neither racist nor does it only cater to Dutch speakers. These are obviously stupid assertions put forth by obviously stupid patrons. What this restaurant IS, is quite small and very popular. My online reservation was turned down when I initially tried...to book a table for two during prime time on a weekend. I wrote back and asked what the availability was, and was offered space at the bar at a later time (8:30ish) -- not ideal, but I took it and I'm glad that I did. The interior is very relaxed and inviting, with soft light and warm woods. The place was quite packed and filled with locals -- tables were pretty much reserved for parties of 4+, so try for a bar seat if you are looking to seat 2. Service was very friendly, and they went out of their way to make sure that the dishes were modified for my companion's dietary restriction. The food was simple but elegant and very well executed -- a seafood terrine as the starter and chicken breast in a beurre blanc for the entree. Talked through suggested wine pairings for the dishes with the staff who were knowledgeable and helpful. The wines were excellent and the overall vibe in the restaurant was really pleasant; just a very cozy place to be on a cold, rainy night. Work with them on the reservation and try to be flexible on the date / time -- it's worth the effort.More

10 of us had the pleasure of dining at Cafe de Klepel. 8 sat at a large table at the back of the restaurant and two sat across the aisle at the bar. The food was a delight. Dinner menu changes depending upon what the...chef finds at market. Wonderful win list.More

Although you are limited to one option for each course, we took the risk and are glad that we did. Everything was delicious. We also enjoyed meeting and speaking with the staff who were both professional and knowledgeable. There is a lovely calm to this...restaurant. We would absolutely return here.More

Casual elegant. I observed most of the local repeat clients dressed in more than decent attire. The place commands more than funky clothing, but as with most other restaurants, they want to be more things to more people... More
