We passed this wonderful bakery on the way from our hotel to the museums. The pastries in the window looked so delicious that we had to return to buy some for breakfast. We opted for a lovely open apple pastry. I am only sorry that we did not have enough time to return and try more.

Excellent sweets--good croissants, cookies and pastries. Coffee is merely typical. Good choice for a quick treat

I stopped here with my daughter for a coffee and a warm chocolate, which were good. I decided to have a lemon cake, which was ok, as well as the ciabatta bread that I bought to take home. The bakery looks very nice, with a tone of green on the walls, very nice glass stands and shelves where the breads... More

All very nice, all in glass and wood. Products with beautiful presentation at the counter, and looking appetizing. Then the saleswoman gets them by hand, without glove, no spatula, no nothing. To complete, she gets the money, gives the change and will meet the next victim with unwashed hands. I can only throw it away in the nearest trash can.

Besides the beauty of the city, this bakery is one reason I go to Amsterdam. It can be crowded with customers sometimes but that is just a sign of how good the freshly baked breads and pastries are. Sandwiches and drinks are available at the back counter. I recommend the appelflappen (apple turnovers).

oh my! others must be tricked by the look of this place. it looks very inviting with the look of its steamy rolls and croisants posing in the window, but boy is this a facade. the croissants I ate there are their best, but really that is not a compliment. a few times I ate one there that was ok,... We stopped here because we got lost going to the Van Gogh museum. What a lucky find! Excellent Dutch pastries that we felt we had never seen before. A memorable experience. Note, there are only 5-6 bar stools for seating. There are no tables. Try the Toscaanse Taart.

We got some pies, one with plum and rhubarb, another one like lemon merengue but without merengue. And we got a merengue separately. A huge hunk of it :) They are the kind of pies you can just take to the park nearby and accurately pull off breaking pieces with your bare hands. We have almost eaten ours already. And... More

Visited while touring the museums. Nice lunch, not particularly big, but cheap. The cookies were exceptional and for €1 you cant go wrong. Small amount of seating so I wouldn't chance getting a seat.

Discovering this bakery was a great find after a walk in the Vondelpark on our way over to the Rijksmuseum, from the street the treats in the window are eye catching, our decision on where to have lunch is made. The bakery is packed with Dutch savoury and sweet pastries and cakes making it almost impossible to decide, there are... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
